While the bridge bunnies were giving their emperor certain looks after discovering internet porn, particularly after a bit of short research into something called 'Viagra', Ranma made an off-hand comment while thinking about Star Wars again.
Without him noticing, the Great Will lit up, granting his wish in a manner that he would agree with.
That was why nothing immediately changed except for a new blip on the sensors.
"Captain! We have an escape pod on sensors!"
Startled out of his dream about fighting the bio-weapons with a lightsaber while Droideka units swarmed in to back him up, Ranma gave what he thought was an obvious answer. "Well, recover it so we can rescue them."
Ever watchful of their new emperor, particularly as he was growing to like him, General Grimm spoke up. "Sir, in light of recent events, this may be a trap or contain something similar to the bio-weapons."
Frowning despite seeing where the big rock dude he trusted coming from, Ranma eventually brought his own counter-point to bear. "Look ya can take precautions, but I ain't gonna stop just because of that. If it's trouble, we'll deal with it, right?"
Nodding, the rocky general found that course of action perfectly agreeable.
Ironically, aboard his own ship, Korith found the boy's actions agreeable as well. In the interest of learning of this strange situation he'd been thrust into, he still had the comm channel open so that he could continue to watch the boy-emperor. While he didn't necessarily agree with him jumping to the rescue of the craft, his unwillingness to back down in the face of danger spoke well for him. The boy also proved his wisdom in listening to that rocky creature that seemed to possess more of a Klingon attitude than a human attitude.
The boy was certainly green, already having admitted he was new to his post in their communications, but the values and wisdom the boy held to along with his courage spoke well of his rule being promising. Unlike the humans he was familiar with, this boy held quite a bit of respect for the Klingons. Moreover, if he was stuck in this strange region of space it would be entirely possible to instill some more Klingon values in this young emperor.
While the pod was being brought in, Ranma finally got good news from one of the bridge bunnies. "Sir! We have located and translated information on an 'American' film series Aliens. The bio-weapons are a creature classified as 'Xenomporhs' which have multiple life stages and a hive structure around a central queen."
"Alright, I was right. Okay, get the info we need to deal with them and see about finding info on those other three creatures."
Ted's statement was to the point as always. "Statement: Data from fictional source may diverge from actual foes, even if one is directly based upon the other."
"Yeah, well it's better than what we had. If something's different we'll deal with it as it comes up."
"Indeed, having information on their incubation period and the various forms and combat abilities to expect should prove invaluable. This new information agrees completely with what we've seen of them so far." For his part, General Grimm was happy to have more information, all they had to do was remember not to trust it completely.
"Alright, get our troops updated and send the info to the Klingons too."
Thinking a bit more on a previous subject, Ranma came up with another order. "Expand that internet search. I want the designs for the ships and droids from Star Wars, and the ship designs from the Macross series. Some valkyries would be real good fun, not to mention having a Macross to launch them from."
Somewhat confused, one of the comm officers popped her head up. "Sir, what's a valkyrie?"
Suddenly making very expressive gestures with his hands, Ranma explained with all the restraint and decorum of a five year old on a sugar rush. "They're these jets that can fly in space, and they can transform into robots so you can even fight hand to hand with 'em! I mean, they may not be as tough as the gundams, but they're really fast and versatile, and if we get a New Macross class battle-carrier for them, we could have a whole bunch."
On two different ships, a rocky general and a Klingon commander both nodded in pleasure at seeing the young emperor so enthusiastic about improving his military strength.
A short while later, Ranma was finally in a holding bay near the coffin-like escape pod. It had already been scanned as much as possible for potential threats, and if everyone said it was so dangerous, Ranma was darn well going to face it himself instead of sending some faceless minion to do it.
Besides, wasn't it tradition that faceless minions only opened bad surprises? At least a Captain got a 50/50 fair shot with things.
