Naruto looked over at David, wondering why the demon had followed him instead of the others.
Well, that wasn’t exactly true. David had done something that he called “spawning”, that created a child version of him that seemed very close to Shinji’s reduced age, as he prepared to return to his reality.
When asked, the demon redhead had merely said it was to “keep watch on him. Shinji’s likely to go a bit overboard when he returns home.”
It didn’t surprise the Kyuubi no Yoko container that the older and original one had come with him. The man was always like an Uncle to him ever since they had found him just floating in the space between the Earth in the Moon, nearly dead. It had taken ten senzu beans to restore him even to something resembling a living being; an amazing amount.
But the man had always remained tight-lipped about what had drained him that much, why he seemed to be such an important figure to that world, and yet he wanted no one to know he lived.
He did explain some of his life journey on the next world the group went to, with him accompanying them. He told tale of deities; both good and bad, as well as human groups bent on his death.
He stated how the three major religions of his world each seemed to have groups dedicated to killing him because of the belief that no demon could be good.
There were the Warriors of the Desert, members of the Jewish faith dedicated to standing against the darkness.
For those of Christianity, there was the Holy Trinity, a group dedicated to the Vatican and maintaining of dogma.
And those of Islam had the Heart of the Forty Stars; those who dealt with things most humans assumed were merely stories.
And that wasn’t even counting the other groups trying to kill him because his father had been a demon.
But whenever they broached the subject about the battle that had left the demon near death, he always changed the subject, or just refused to talk about it.
And since Naruto had sparred against the man, he knew that whatever the battle was, it must have been against something near unstoppable to drain him that much.
“Maybe he’ll tell me someday,” mused Naruto, as the man, slept against a tree along the road, recovering from the making of the spawn-copy that was with Shinji now.
The demon fox observed the other demon through the eyes of his container, wondering as well what could have drained such a being they had spent many a year with.
Though the Kyuubi was a bit gentler in his attitude towards humans—a feat only accomplished by seeing the battles Ranma and his clan had faced in the multiverse—he still wondered what could have been so strong to nearly kill David.
For all his power, the fox was still blank on many aspects of demons; types, powers, and abilities. And though David had filled in those gaps with his detailed knowledge of demons and such, he still wondered if perhaps there were no limits as he had been led to believe.
After all, Naruto himself could easily produce twice the chakra that the fox had been able to before he was sealed. And Ranma had been easily able to do five times that when they had last compared levels.
And yet this red-haired human/demon hybrid could easily dwarf them all at times.
Truly, a humbling experience.
I will learn what he fought to leave him so weak. After all, it would not do well for the kit to be a container for a second-strongest demon.
In the dreams of the demon hybrid redhead...
He struggled as hard as he could, all his energy going to push the object of his ire away from the Earth.
But then again, how much could one hope to be able to push away the Moon itself.
It had been Omega’s final assault. Omega was a being dedicated to the death of all life, taking human form to eliminate it all from Earth and destroy the planet, and thus send the nexus point of many dimensions into total chaos.
But he was forever gone now, his soul destroyed by the final act of Jennifer, a half-angel who had finally seen that David had not been the evil he had been portrayed by the Holy Trinity. Though it had cost her, her life, he would never again be reborn to try such atrocities.
But Omega’s final act had been done: the Moon was now heading towards the very planet that had given birth to it.
And despite all his efforts, all his power, the mass was not even slowing down.
NO! I can’t let it end like this! Too many people are counting on me to save them!
He struggled to find power, any power, of any type, that would allow him to stop the Moon’s descent onto Earth. But even his will couldn’t stop the Moon.
And then he remembered the one thing he had, the one thing that could perhaps have enough power to stop the Moon’s descent.
He still had his very soul.
He cried a bit, his tears slipping away from him and freezing as they left the warmth of his body, and entered the cold vacuum of space. I ... I would have liked ... to have been a man with a family.
But I guess ... my destiny was to give them all a chance to live beyond the rules and constrains of the deities.
And as he looked back at the grey soil of the Moon, he smiled as he tapped into the very spark of life that made him who he was.
And with that, he unleashed a power that none could ever hope to stop.
“Wake the hell up, already!” yelled Naruto, slapping the older man around, trying to get him conscious so they could move on.
“If you don’t stop that,” mumbled the redhead, “you’ll be walking into your village in a bondage outfit.”
“EEP!” squealed Naruto, as he flew back a few meters.
Standing slowly, and rubbing his jaw, Dave smiled at his friend. “Now then, nephew, shall we go introduce ourselves to your village?”
Naruto smiled, then grew a cocky appearance. He was used to the Nephew term. After all, Dave was half demon, and Naruto could be considered one at times, given what was sealed within him. “Sure, just don’t hit on Tsunade like everyone else.”
“Kid, I ain’t a cradle-robber.”
Naruto snorted. The demon was perhaps the only person who could be telling the truth with such a joke.
And with that, the two set off for Konoha, wondering how the others were dealing with their own returns home.
