Selune let out a deep breath. Shar had monks, evil lycanthropes, mystics, and all sorts of combatants "on the board". There was a balance of power, but it was tilted against Selune. Just the hundreds of Nightrunners were a problem.
Which was why she was toying with the idea of borrowing a page from Mystra's book.
She'd have to see what could develop, but what she needed was someone to experiment with. Someone who could be empowered by a touch of divine essence. Someone who-
whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooshhh WHAM!
Selune rubbed the back of her head and wondered who had thrown a mortal child at her. Injuries were severe on that child. Well, it looked like Fate had provided. She'd have to remember to send him a thank-you card later.
"So he's been Chosen by an unknown god, one that is hiding that mark from direct observation," said Elminster.
"Which most likely means that he's the Chosen of a god that has enemies," said Khelben, looking particularly gruff and humorless.
"He's a monk, or close enough," said Laeral. "We can always foist him off on a monastery. Candlekeep might be a good choice."
Qilue's raised voice could be heard outside.
"What got her feathers ruffled?" asked Elminster, holding back a curtain so he could look outside.
"Before she got here, he manifested a talent, possibly something to indicate what kind of power he's been Chosen by," said Laeral. "There in the Promenade he-"
