They were not all-powerful, all-knowing, or infallible. They were mortal, though buttressed by Mystra's silver fire, and capable of mistakes and oversights.
It was the Simbul who finally tried glancing in at the boy getting a drink, using True Sight. It was Elminster who handed her a bottle of Excedrin that he'd picked up in his OWN planewalking.
"Lurue," said The Simbul, gratefully taking the medication.
"Lurue has a Chosen?" asked Dove. "The goddess of enchanted beasts? I would have expected her to choose a pegasus or unicorn."
"She already has one of those," said Laeral.
"Unintended at first," said The Simbul, "apparently she was in her home plane and some little boy in an uncontrolled planar travel collided with her at high speed. She was apparently rather startled by that. Then amused."
"So what does it mean to be Larue's Chosen?" asked Storm, being practical. "If a Chosen of Mystra is immune to certain spells, has access to more magic and a longer life, then what can the boy do?"
Glancing out the window, Elminster hrmphed. "It looks like he can-"
