[Episode 170183] [Episode 170183]Ranma really did not want to wake up and face the new day. Yesterday he had been so close; just a wish away from a cure for his curse, but then everything had gone wrong again as it usually did in such situations.
He could hear Akane angrily yelling at him to wake up and he knew that it was only a matter of time before she stormed in here to wake him by force of mallet or cold water. He decided to hide by drawing his blanket over his head and pretending that the outside world simply did not exist.
Akane loudly exhorting about breakfast and the need to get up made that a little bit harder than it already was, but Ranma Saotome did not back down from a challenge. He could do denial with the best of them. If there was a martial-arts denying reality contest he would have surely won even if the other losers would not admit defeat.
At the moment Ranma simply refused to acknowledge that any of the events of last night had actually occurred. None of it had been real and thus this morning when he would have to deal with the inevitable consequences could not possibly be real either.
Outside his door Akane was rapidly losing patience but Ranma was not listening to her.
He instead thought back to the evening before when he had tried to make his wish. He was still unsure how it had all come together or why everyone had been there, but he was sure that if there actually was an explanation it would not make much sense to him. Instead he concentrated on what he had ended up wishing for. No cure, so much he was sure of, but beyond that....
There had been that stupid genie chick who had interrupted him when he tried to use the wishing sword. Everyone had been trying to tell him what wish for. Nabiki was trying to coach him how to formulate his wish so it would not backfire, but she kept putting subclauses about money into it and the genie chick kept telling her that was a bad idea.
Old man Tendou had threatened him to wish for Akane's hand in marriage and Ukyou and Shampoo kept telling him to wish for hers. Then his father came home apparently stuck in panda form, thrust a taxidermically prepared primate limb into his hands and signed for him to wish for all Saotomes to be cured while gesturing to the paw with his paw.
Soun had broken out in tears then because his old friends did not support him on the wish-for-marriage front. Ranma had decided to take a break and call for takeout at that point because he knew it was going to be a long night, but he had only gotten a wrong number. A short time later another chick had appeared out of nowhere and tried to talk him into making a specific wish too.
Happousai bursting in with a sackful of lingerie and demands about making an underwear related wish had made the party complete. Everyone was yelling at him and Ranma's headache had increased and his frustration mounted. Things had gotten a bit chaotic after that.
He wasn't quite sure if the part with the eclipse and the giant dragon had really happened or if he had just dreamed it. He only remembered that at some point enough had finally been enough and he had loudly screamed something in frustration. He had unloaded on everyone in the room and told them what he thought of their ideas about what he should wish for.
When he had finally finished his rant there had been a terrible ghastly silence.
Then there had been a chorus of "Wish Granted!" and then everything had gone black.
And now he would have to face whatever it was that had happened as a result. He just knew that everyone would blame him for the mess that had been caused. And since Akane now appeared to have lost what little patience she ever had and entered the room to wake him in person he would not be able to hide from reality much longer.
Surely it could not be that bad, he thought as Akane forcefully removed the blanket he was hiding under.
Cautiously he looked up at her blinking at the harsh light of morning.
"Seriously, Ranma," Akane scolded him. "How long do you plan to lie there? You don't want to be late again do you?"
Ranma blinked some more.
"Is everything all right with you?" she asked now sounding a little concerned.
Ranma stared at her. He could not help himself.
"Er, Akane," he finally managed to bring himself to say. "Why aren't you wearing any clothes?"
The naked girl standing above him looked down at him like he had just asked a very stupid question.
