Dresdenverse Senshi: Not the way it should go [Episode 170417]

by Kestral

Ranma considered throwing the fight. Then he could go off on a training journey. Victory of one's goals by feigning defeat in a battle.

Realizing Ranma was just going to stand there in a relaxed pose, Akane threw a few punches. Ranma swayed out of the way of each one.

"Fight back!" demanded Akane, throwing another punch.

"Nah, you're too cute for that," said Ranma, winking.

"Take that back!" demanded Akane, throwing two more punches.

Ranma stopped the second one by grabbing the fist during the extension. Time to go into sensei mode if he was going to go for that ploy. "Nah. Ya see - you're not retracting fast enough. You're putting some fair strength in it, but if you match strength to strength - there's always someone with more muscle."

Akane tried to tug her arm free, then went for a shoulder throw. Ranma waited until her back was turned, then released his grip and raised his foot to boot her in the backside.

Akane left the dojo as if someone had stuck a rocket up her butt.

"Oops," said Ranma, sincerely. "Sorry. Didn't mean to use quite that much force."

"This certainly doesn't mean the two schools can't be joined," said Soun.

"Absolutely," agreed Genma.

Stomping back in, her face covered in mud, Akane growled at the boy. "Don't think that's finished me!"

"Wouldn't dream of it," said Ranma. "Uhm. You've got some leaves in your hair."

Akane looked to her attending sister (Nabiki) who nodded. Akane found the grass that had somehow gotten there, flicked the worst of the remaining mud off her face, and went back into a ready stance.

Ranma sighed. This was not the way he'd envisaged this going. This day so totally sucked. Hmmm. She reacted to that 'cute' comment. Maybe... "Hey, you know, you're kinda cute and all, but this ain't a good way to meet guys."

Akane would normally take being called cute very well. This was in a martial arts match however, and indicated that she wasn't being taken seriously. Cute in this context was insulting to her pride. She growled at this infuriating boy and launched her attack.

"I don't know," said Ranma, swaying out of the way of a punch. "You might work on your speed." (Duck under swing, leap over legsweep.) "You tend to -" (sway backwards) "-use the same-" (sidestep, twist) "-attack over and over-" (twist, sidestep, sway) "-and setting up a pattern-" (sidestep, sway, twist) "-is most definitely not a good thing."

"NOW TENDO!"

"RIGHT!"

Ranma had a split instant of warning before the two leapt forward with ropes.

Odd, how a split instant can seem all the time in the world. Ranma became a blur, crouching down like a coiled spring under his father's grab, then coming up with his fist finding Mister Tendo's chin.

POOM!

Nabiki looked at the hole in the dojo's roof and wondered how much THAT was going to cost.

Akane stopped her charge forward and decided just maybe she didn't want this guy to take her TOO seriously in this fight after all.

Genma turned, leapt again towards his wayward son.

Ranma blurred again, grabbing his father as he passed and using all his strength to begin an airplane spin.

Feeling the wind whipping past her, Nabiki dropped to the floor.

Akane decided she shouldn't be fighting anyway. Winning this battle meant having to get married right away, and so winning this fight wouldn't be in her best interests anyway. She'd just duck and cover for now because she didn't need the hassle. Right? Right!

Ranma let go of his now-screaming father. Another large hole appeared, this one marking the juncture of roof and wall. Slapping his hands together as if to clear it of dust, he smiled. "Now. I don't suppose I can get some supplies? I'd really like to continue my training journey."
