ID4: Water Water Everywhere [Episode 170604]

Each ship had an active wormhole. While the ships couldn't travel faster than light, the connection between the end of the wormhole aboard a ship and the other end elsewhere meant that something like instantaneous transmission was taking place.

Then, when they'd found a world that was almost suitable, they simply took position and turned on the taps.

The species was amphibian in nature, and spent much of its lifecycle in water. With ships invulnerable to weaponry of such a primitive race - it was easy enough to begin by simply having one end of the wormhole submerged. Water pressure at that end would cause the water to begin to flow, where it would be discharged on the planet to be converted. Eventually THAT world would supply water to the next target and in the meantime would provide a nice spawning ground.

Each high pressure stream of water was a quarter mile across and did absolutely nothing strange. Other than being a high pressure stream of water that didn't want to stop, coming through a forcefield which apparently was set so that any number of missiles and similar weapons exploded harmlessly against it.

On hearing that the aliens were basically deluging the cities, panic sort of stalled out. Analysis after analysis revealed absolutely nothing sinister about the water after all.

Maybe it was just some weird alien custom?
