Theoretical physicists, rocket scientists (the real ones, not the kind they had on TV), quantum mechanics experts, cosmologists, and more.
The press was here too. Most of whom were privately against this spending of money on this whole "sci-fi garbage" and were hoping for a nice large explosion.
There were heads of state as well. Japan had been chosen as a sort of "neutral ground" and because the scientist who'd actually worked out the math had hailed from Japan. Truly though, it was an international effort to put it all together.
Some of those heads of state hadn't actually contributed anything, and in fact had been against the sort of money put out to bring this to be.
It wasn't as if they knew there were habitable planets out there, or resources that you couldn't get on Earth. It wasn't as if there weren't enough causes and such to spend money on already.
Ranma, floated weightless, watched a timer counting down and wondered why they hadn't put a radio in here.
Kuno, Mousse, and Gosunkugi watched the proceedings happily. Ryoga had gone to the restroom and it was anyone's guess when he'd return. If ever.
Ranma searched everywhere, looking for a spacesuit or spaceraft or emergency escape pod or SOMETHING.
Akane wondered where P-chan was.
Ranma shrugged and went into a lotus position. Well, this was par for the course, wasn't it?
Ranma immediately likened the sensation to those straws with all the bends and twists and curves. It was rather like being sucked through one of those.
