Usa's Wild Horse: All in your head [Episode 171511]

by The Demented Redhead

“Ranma? “RANMA?”

“Huh?” came the confused reply of the pigtailed wonder. “What happened, where are they?”

“Where are who?” asked Usa, her disguise pen in hand, waiting for him to say if he preferred her to look any particular way for a disguise.

Ranma searched all around quickly for any signs of Queen Kuno and her Lonely Hearts Club, but found no trace. “You ever have a waking nightmare?” he asked, finally coming back into the living room and before Usa.

She nodded her head. “I usually have them when magic is messing with my head. Maybe the cleansing spell is messing with your chaotic aura.”

Ranma paled a bit. “So I might have more of them?” he asked, not wanting a repeat of that or any other nightmare like it.

Usa shook her head. “I’m sorry that I can’t tell you. If anything, they’ll get lighter as your chaotic aura erodes the cleansing spell.”

Seeing his confusion, she explained. “Think of the spell as rain. Now the ground is all wet. Your chaotic aura would then be the sun, drying up the rain.” She had to keep it simple as possible. She knew he wasn’t very well schooled in what had passed for an education then. She knew he had great potential; it may even be possible for him to be as great a scholar as Ami.

Of course, getting him to even tap that potential would be a challenge that even she might not be able to overcome.

The couple made their way around Nerima Park, enjoying the natural setting. She wanted to take it easy with him, try and limit the shocks his system would have to absorb in a day. If anything, she wanted him to feel comfortable not just with her, but with the goal and even the circumstances as well.

“This place is pretty nice,” said Ranma, looking as birds fluttered around the trees. “Kinda hard to believe this used to be my old home,” he added; a slight amount of depression in his voice.

“Sorry I had to bring you forward so suddenly,” said Usa. “I wish I could have helped you out, but that would have made us more noticeable to Puu, and she’s a stickler for the rules, even if she thinks Mom went overboard.”

“Puu?”

“Sailor Pluto. I sometime call her Puu.”

Nodding, Ranma resumed their walk. “That’s okay,” Ranma said, patting her arm like he did on occasion for Kasumi when she thought she had offended him somehow. “I mean, you really need my help, and it wasn’t like I had much going for me back there. All in all, I guess it coulda gone worse.”

One must first understand that while order and chaos are both part of the grand design, and that both are needed for development and a worthwhile existence, it does not mean that they like each other.

And Ranma paused before the greatest proof that order really was out to get him.

“What ... is ... that?” he growled out.

Usa looked at the statue he was pointing at. “Oh. That statue was made before the Great Ice. It was supposed to commemorate the defeat of some great and evil mage by the modern samurai Tatewaki Kuno, thus freeing the women who loved ... him ... from... Are you okay?” she asked.

It was then that it hit her, what that meant from her research. “Shit,” she muttered. “I’m sorry, I forgot all about this.”

Growling, Ranma looked around, before he pulled Usa behind a tree. “Stay here, and try to stay quiet.”

Usa stood behind the tree, a little fearful of what he might do. Would he use an energy blast against the statue, scream obscenities?

“Bakusai Tenketsu!”

She blinked, hearing the statue explode. “Well, that’s one way to change history.”

“We can go now,” said Ranma, walking before her, as he cleaned dirt off his clothes.

Oh well, I guess some minor vandalism is a start. I wonder how long it’ll be before they notice the statue is gone. I mean, I hardly think anyone comes to this part of the park anymore.
