Wrong timeline or wrong universe?: Chibiusa's birthday trip [Episode 171573]

by Shritistrang

Chibiusa smiled. Yesterday has been her 15th birthday, and the party her friends had prepared for her had been great. She also got nice presents... like a special upgrade for her Luna-P.

The present from Sailor Pluto - who she still called Puu at times - was something special. She allowed her to once again travel back in time to meet her parents and friends when they were still teenagers. Those 'past versions' of her friends and family also somehow became her 'second family', as Chibiusa liked living in the century of Crystal Tokyo (where she normally originated from), but also in the century of the past, when her mother was still Sailor Moon.

She stood in the middle of her room, surrounded by her friends and parents. Her bags were being packed and lay around her on the floor, her advisor and friend Diana (now nearly as big as her parents Luna and Artemis) was standing next to her, and her new and improved Luna-P (she still had to try out most of the neat extras) was floating over her head.

Her mother, Neo-Queen Serenity, nodded towards her. "Have a nice trip," she told her daughter. "And have fun." She smiled. "From what I remember from that time, there won't be any trouble this time..."

Her father, King Endymion, also nodded. "I know our past selves have somehow become your second family. But remember to always come back if you feel homesick, okay?"

Her best friend, Hotaru aka Sailor Saturn, smiled at her. "I wish I could come with you for once... but I still have some duties here..."

The others bid their farewells and wishes as well, and finally Pluto gave her the time key.

Chibiusa said good-bye one last time, then she raised the key.

"Guardian of Time! Tear apart the sky and open the Door of Space-Time to me! I call your true name, the almighty god of time, the guardian of time's father, Chronos! Guidance to me! Protection to me! The path of light to me!"

A bright cone of light surrounded her, as she slowly vanished from the sight of her friends...

----

Everytime someone or something travels long distances through space or time (or both), the fabric of space and time has to be 'folded' in a manner of speaking. Normally, if there are no interferences, the object or person just flies through the ages and dimensions normally, arriving at its point of arrival only a few seconds afterwards.

But rarely, very rarely, when two travelling objects collide, or if there are some other 'turbulences' of some sort, the travel path of that person can be altered...

If that would happen, this person's chosen goal would be altered dramatically. It could be in the same time, but on the other side of the planet. Or it could be the same place, but in a whole different time - maybe the person travelled forwards in time instead of backwards...

Or, in an extremely rare case, the person could reach the same space and time setting, but in a totally different reality, where the previous history underwent a radical change...

And when not-so-Chibi-Usa, princess from Crystal Tokyo, together with her advisor Diana, crossed such a 'turbulence', she had to live through such a scenario...

----

After Chibiusa reappeared, she immediately felt that something went wrong. She was in the same park as usual, in Juuban, and it was afternoon.

Over her head floated Luna-P, but...

"Wait a minute..." she murmured. "Where are my bags? And Diana? Diana? Where are you?"

Her royal advisor was gone. And that was not the only strange thing here. She looked up at the skyline of modern Tokyo... and gasped.

Instead of the modern-looking skyscrapers and similar structures, gloomy-looking buildings rose above her head, with Gothic-looking arches, spires and ugly stone gargoyles. Black clouds covered the sky and hid the sun.

The road between the buildings was much cruder than she remembered, and there were no cars to be seen anywhere. In fact, the city was much darker, as only very few lights were visible in the curved windows of the stone buildings.

Chibiusa shivered. Something went wrong, very wrong. This wasn't the Tokyo she knew... was she even in the right timeline? And where did Diana and her other things vanish to?

She clutched her Luna-P. "I hope I can find my mother and her friends somewhere... if they even exist in this strange version of Tokyo..."

----

Diana shook her head. That was weird... the journey through time felt entirely different from last time. And...

"Wait a minute?" she wondered. "Where is Chibiusa?" All around her she saw only the travel bags of the princess.

Diana looked around. As far as she was concerned, this place looked exactly like the normal Juuban park. Did the key have some sort of malfunction and Chibiusa was still behind in Crystal Tokyo?

Before she could do anything else, she heard a giggling girl's voice behind her.

"Look, Hotaru-mama! This kitty looks exactly like Diana... but much younger!"

Diana turned around. In front of her, she saw two persons she knew very well...

But at the same time, she knew that those weren't the persons she knew. "Hotaru...?" she murmured. "Setsuna?"

The violet-haired, adult woman and the small, dark green-haired girl looked down at her. "Diana?" the adult version of Hotaru asked. "What happened? Why are you suddenly as young as your daughter?"

Diana stared. "My WHAT?"

"Is something wrong?" little Setsuna asked. "You know, Luna! Remember? Your daughter and Artemis' sister."

Diana shuddered. Yes, this was DEFINITELY a different Tokyo as she knew...
