Jean tried to hold her tears in as she walked down the hallway to the infirmary. She would glance every now and then at the red head in Dr. McCoy's arms, remembering how they met.

It had been almost a year since she had woken up in the middle of the night to find that she had somehow become psychically linked to a person on the other side of the planet. She wasn't sure how it had happened, but after conversing with him for several hours, she had learned his name was Ranma and that there was more to the world than she had ever believed.
After watching some of his memories, she had learned that magic was indeed real, and that it was possible for normal humans to do things that she had only seen or in movies and cartoons. Over the next couple of months, she had learned of his training journey with increasing horror, rage and disgust at what his father had done to him and had to explain why people would feel that way every time he told someone.
It took awhile but he slowly began to see that the things his father had subjected him to amounted to nothing short of child abuse. She had to explain to him that his so called friends were anything but. And the way that he was treated by his fiancés, after learning about some of the things that they had done, half the Danger Room needed to be rebuilt.
She would tutor him in various school subjects to help with his education, which was another thing that he had realized that his father had stunted on purpose to keep him ignorant so he would be easier to control. One of the subjects that he had absolutely no knowledge of besides the bare basics was in Sex Ed. It had opened his eyes to certain things and had left both blushing deeply.
During her training, the Professor had taught her how to project herself to the astral plain, and after several weeks of practice they were able to finally meet face to face, but instead of just Ranma, there were two other beings there as well. A large cat like creature and a red headed girl that looked just like Ranma's girl side.
Ranma for his part was trying to keep from panicking over seeing the creature. Jean had managed to calm him down somewhat, but he would keep his back towards the giant feline. After talking to the Ranma-chan look alike, they discovered that Ranma's mind had fractured during the Neko-Ken training, and had fractured once more upon receiving the curse.
It had taken several weeks, but with Jeans help, he had been able to fuse his mind back together with interesting results. He had mastery over the Neko-Ken, and aside from some slight cosmetic changes such as longer canines and slited pupils, his senses had dramatically increased.
As for his curse, since the other fractured personality was female, he no longer felt the need to prove his masculinity by acting macho all the time.
He had also begun to teach her some of his special techniques while the met on the astral plain. She had surprised everyone when she decided to see if she could pull off a Chi blast in the waking world. Although not as powerful as Ranma's, she had succeeded in putting a sizable dent in the Danger Room's wall.
As for Ranma, Jean had let him watch training sessions and the fights that the X-men had with the Brotherhood through her eyes. She had asked him why but all she got was that it was a surprise.
It wasn't until she had been about to lay down to sleep when the conversation she was having with Ranma abruptly cut off and a feeling of panic and sorrow was broadcast across their link.
She began to panic, trying to contact him when she felt the link disappear all together. She blinked as tears began to fall and sat on the edge of her bed with her head down. Her head suddenly snapped up as she felt the link reconnect stronger than before.
Wiping her eyes, she probed the linked and was shocked to find that there were two more minds linked to her and Ranma. Before she could probe farther, there was a quiet sound, like air being displaced. She turned to see a bloody Ranma-chan sitting on the floor crying and her arms each wrapped around two girls, also bloody, that she recognized from Ranma's memories as Nabiki and Kasumi Tendo.
"RANMA!"
Ranma looked up at Jeans shout before blinking. "Jean?" She whispered slightly dazed. "It's gone."She rushed over to the red head, ignoring the gathering crowd at her door. "What’s gone?" She asked, kneeling down.
"Nerima. It's gone. Destroyed. I-I couldn't find any survivors, except, except for Nabs and Kasumi. Th-they were dieing when I fond them. I-I used that technique that I found in one of the Ol'gouhl's scrolls. I couldn't let them die too!"
Jeans eyes widened. She knew what technique Ranma was talking about. It was used to bin a person back from the brink of death, but it bonded the two people together. Jean was amazed that ranma was able to use the technique on both girls and still be coherent enough to speak. Her eyes widened even farther when she realized that she shared the same link with the two girls as she did with Ranma.
"Jean?" Jean looked towards the door to see the Professor, Dr. McCoy and some of the students peering through her now open door.
"I'll explain later Professor, but first, we need to get these three to the infirmary." Jean said as she levitated Nabiki and Kasumi into the air while Dr. McCoy picked up the now passed out Ranma-chan.
