Dark Breath: The Plan Revealed At Last [Episode 171923]

by Thrythlind

Few animals were so infected as were the creatures about Ryouga, at least compared to the number of infected humans, and so few of those strands of magical beast found themselves brought out of the ancient times. A thunderbird or two in America, giant spiders (getting bigger every moment), a small cluster of lions turned manticore in Africa and a few other things here and there, maybe a bestial dragon in Norway. None of those were going to be in any condition to terrorize the world for some time to come, though.

Those animals without any trace of magical DNA quickly succumbed to the magical disease, becoming a different sort of monster entirely. Upheaval, terror and destruction were the near entirety of their goals. Eventually, their bodies would start changing and finally falling apart, but that was weeks ahead yet.

Before then, infected humans, dead save for a malevolent objective not quite intelligent enough to be demonic, would unleash waves of random violence culminating in a war to consume the globe...and sink it into a new dark age.

An age where the opportunistic could find there way to power.

Of course, the opportunistic could also find themselves constantly fending off the assault of other such would-be tyrants, and missing such modern luxuries as the internet, cable, movie theaters or safe drinking water, but the people that tend to hatch such plans rarely think so far ahead.

Common misconception among such people, anarchy equals doing whatever they want rather than anarcy equals little to no chance for long life.

While this expository was running, however, Ranma had tried to call Ucchan's to tell her what was going on, but couldn't get an answer. A worried chill worked it's way up his spine and he was quickly out the door and hopping across the town.

"Ucchan!" Ranma called out as he pulled himself into the upper story of her shop through a window.

It didn't take long for him to spot Konatsu on the bed. At least most of her was easily recognizeable as Konatsu. Though her colorations had changed. He stared as a wheezing sound whistled discordantly through the empty room.

Her hair was sort of wispy and whitish, almost as pale as her grayish pale skin. Her eyes were dark grey and reflective and Ranma wasn't certain he could see a pupil in them. The kunoichi's arms, however, looked mismatched and her chest was all askew, with one breast more like Shampoo's than her own nearly flat chest.

Beyond that, Ranma marked that Konatsu looked almost like she hadn't eaten in days. It was like something had sucked all the nutrition from her body, or else burned it out. Then the changeling's form started slowly shifting into somebody else.

It took a long moment before Ranma's eyes pulled away from Konatsu to look for the source of the wheezing. He saw Ukyou passed out against the wall.

She'd changed too.

Her long, pointed ears pointed to the ceiling as her face was pointed down. There was a slight green tinge under her otherwise deeply-browned skin that didn't, at first, look like it was really there, especially in the poorly lit room.

Darting forward, Ranma grabbed at Ukyou's over-stuffed top and ripped open her clothes. Immediately a large breath of air poured out of Ukyou's spell-enhanced chest and the unhealthy wheezing shifted into a weak pant.

Under normal circumstances, Ranma would have been embarrassed, or even nervous, to be in front of a girl with an open top, but things were just too weird for him to think about that. Even so, he quickly took off his overshirt to cover Ukyou's chest, noting that her skin felt far too dry.

As soon as Ukyou was covered, Ranma was running for the Ucchan's phone and calling another ambulance.
