“There isn’t anything else I can do! Everyone get ready!”
“Get ready, how do we get ready if we don’t know what’s going to happen next?!”
“notmyfaultnotmyfault…”
“Shut UP! That isn’t helping! Usagi hang on to me!”
There had been chaos and noise, panic and screams. As the time bubble finally began to collapse everyone had scrambled trying vainly to hold on to each other. It seemed almost sacrilegious to end so much confusion with utter silence.
‘…………… where, where am I?’
She couldn’t tell if her eyes were open or if she were blind. Around her spread an infinite sea of darkness, silent and unending. Was she floating? Were the others there? These and a million other questions rose up within her mind only to drift away into the void.
‘… I’m tired, so very tired. Please, let me sleep. I want to wake up at home. I want Shingo break into my room. I want to hear mom telling me I’m late for school. I want to know that dad’s coming home. I want to be with my friends, I want to be with HIM. Please, please let me sleep, let this all just go away.’
How long she lingered there was impossible to tell. Time meant nothing in the darkness, it had no business there.
Her existence shrank down to nothing and joined the infinite sea of the abyss. But even the embrace of darkness could not continue forever. Slowly, ever so slowly lights began to emerge before her eyes. Dull and blurry they slowly began to grow until shapes became outlined by their weak touch. Harsh neon and iridescent lights took form, cold concrete and old rain water began to solidify beneath her. Bit by bit a somber cityscape began emerge from the shadows around her, and through it all she remained, motionless and exhausted. Time silently began to creep back into her consciousness and Usagi Tsukino once again became aware of her surroundings.
‘As our world collapses so too do the rules that govern our magic. If we survive this I can’t guarantee that our magic will work the way we want it too or even if we’ll have any magic at all. I wish I could give you guys more information but I need more time to analyze this,’ the blue haired genius had explained. She could tell that it had pained Ami to not be able to offer more, but her heart had gone out to the other girl.
Turning her head she could see the tattered remains of her glove, the rest of her uniform in a similar state. Not caring of her dress she once again turned to the sky. It was night, and though there as water collecting in pools the air was free of rain.
‘Why … why did this have to happen?’
Closing her eyes once more, Usagi passed out where she lay. Too exhausted to even cry the moon princess slipped once more into darkness, sparing her the sight of the many eyes staring at her from within the shadows of the alley.
