His ears twitched slightly as he overheard the occasional comment about him from the crowds he fairly waded through. Other than that he didn't betray any signs of his rapidly down-spiralling mood.
The cause of which was simply enough a lack of money. While he'd been able to get some riceballs for his pack from the Tendo home, he was going to have to start stealing food soon to keep eating. Then there was the added problem of his lack of clothing to switch into, having recently outgrown most of his outfits.
Then it started to rain, which caused a further souring of his mood.
When he settled down into a shelter, something penetrated that mood. Something nearby was subtly wrong. The more he focussed on it, the greater the sense of unease.
