What had started out as a shape defined by the rain, became a dark shadow, which eventually became a thing with a vaguely human semblence and features that flowed like hot wax.
When it cornered three kids and what was apparently their mother, it shifted again and Ranma knew from the shadow it now had - that it was visible to them too. That and their reactions. It had now become a thing of razor blade spider-legs that reached out.
"Leave 'em alone, ugly."
Ranma landed in the alleyway softly, fists white-knuckled as he glared at the creature before him.
The creature lashed out and a line of red appeared on the face of the mother.
"Okay, that's it ya jerk."
The creature seemed to be a little surprised when fingers dug into its flesh and physically hauled it away. It was surprised, as it believed that its nature and enchantments would protect it from mortal weapons until dawn.
Ranma was many things in many times. In this time, he was dragon-kin. He was quite capable of grabbing ahold of a Winter Court fae.
There was a grisly noise, as the creature HAD formed a mockery of a human body. Therefore it did have a spine and bones and ligaments. As it fought with Ranma, many of those items were dislocated or flat-out broken.
Finally, the fetch gooshed out in a puddle of ectoplasm - stuff of the Nevernever.
"Better get that treated," said Ranma, glancing at the children and woman. Now their fear was turned towards HIM, and the unfairness of it briefly struck him before he turned and walked off.
"A-are you a hero?" asked one kid before his mother shushed him.
Ranma considered that briefly. Considered walking off without a word, but they were spooked enough and the unfairness of the mother's fear and silent accusation still irked him. "Yeah, kid. I guess I am."
Ranma stalked off through the night, only slowing and smiling later. "Hey, that had ta be pretty cool."
