Which meant, among other things, that if one checked the Chicago Yellow Pages - one would find the listing of Wizards and the name of Harry Dresden.
It was the sort of world where a sometimes-irritating and frequently-cynical wizard-detective could find himself dealing with irate vengeance-ridden storm-mages, hardbitten if attractive Police Special Investigation detectives, Machiavellian plotting Faerie Queens, pizza-loving pixies, cursed loup-garou and crooked FBI agents, sword-wielding Knights of the Cross, vampires of three entirely seperate species/factions/Courts and THEIR plots, and so on.
Epic quests didn't await - they often hunted you down and hauled you off along them before breakfast.
It was also not quite a proper Dresdenverse, simply because, well, you wouldn't expect Harry to be terribly "proper" now anyway would you? Of course not. Any world with a bunch of D&D fans who got together for games on Fridays and spent frequent other nights in the forms of wolves patrolling Chicago looking to take a bite out of crime - it was as apt to have little differences here and there for the traveller to stumble across as any other.
Of course with a war between the Red Court of the vampires, various members of the other two Courts of vampires wanting to kill him, Queen Mab trying to tap him as the replacement for her former Knight and current torture victim, and a newly acquired apprentice among other things - Harry's plate was rather full.
Not everyone had so much to deal with that they weren't likely to note the presence of some odd developments however.
Ranma had just killed a fetch, a member of the Winter Court who fed on fear and enjoyed causing pain and misery. There would be repercussions of this.
Of course because it was a Dresdenverse, then there were other elements that were not quite the same as they were elsewhere.
