Although nobody would say it out loud (as the Japanese were usually very reserved and polite people), they would all agree that Seina Yamada has got to be the unluckiest person in the universe (although that position can probably be contested by other characters who led miserable lives). Minor disasters often occurred within his presence so this was one of the reasons why he had few friends.
He honestly wasn't too bothered with the fact that he could count the number of friends he had with just one hand. Having Tenchi, Kiriko and Kai as his close friends was good enough for him. They were willing to overlook the fact that Seina was a bit of a disaster magnet and a klutz who could rival Keitaro Urashima or Usagi Tsukino. That meant a lot to him and that's why he was never bothered at how some people tended to stay clear of him.
Today had been a good day, at least for him. He only fell off his bicycle three times during the delivery trip to his friend's household. The groceries were packed carefully as his family had taken precautions to make sure that the merchandise would remain undamaged. When Seina saw the property in sight, he wondered for the fifteenth time how the shrine and house fused together in such a manner as he was certain that Tenchi's house was located in the city.
He got off his bicycle, placed it against the mailbox and slowly walked to the entrance of the property. "Seina! What's up?"
The young man turned to see his friend, Tenchi, jog up to him. He was dressed in a training outfit and had a bokken in his right hand so Seina reasoned that Tenchi had just finished sparring with his grandfather. "There's not much going on at my end. By the way, where do you want me to put the groceries?"
"Right! Follow me and we'll place the stuff in the kitchen. My dad's left some money to pay for the delivery."
"Sounds good... whoa!" Seina nearly tripped during the small trek to the kitchen. Lucky for him, his friend Tenchi caught his arm. The unlucky young man smiled sheepishly. "Thanks."
The Crown Prince of Jurai merely smiled. "What are friends for?" It didn't take too long for the two teenagers to organize the food so that it would be easy for Sasami, the resident chef, to know where the fresh stuff is.
"It's unusually quiet today," noted Seina. "Where are all those women that hang around you?"
"Busy with other things. I'm pretty sure that I'm not exactly the centre of their universe... but the way Ryoko and Ayeka act around me makes me question that thought." Tenchi handed several Yen notes to his friend. "You going to stay for dinner? Tonight's gonna be a crazy spice fest, at least according to Sasami-chan."
Seina shook his head. "It's nice of you to offer but I'm needed back at the grocery store. See you later!" He quickly walked back to his bike (while tripping twice in the process) and made a speedy return trip (while nearly getting into a car accident) to the grocery store. After securing his bike (which remained in one piece surprisingly) to the bike rack in front of the grocery store, he announced his return upon entering. "I'm back!"
"Welcome back! By the way, we found something strange outside your room and there's a tag that's addressed to you," called out his father.
"Huh? What would that be?" He exited the store and used his key to get access to the stairwell attached beside the store that leads to the family apartment right above the business. As soon as he got to his room, he saw a large black case resting in front of his door. Desperate to satisfy his curiosity, he opened the case to see...
