The trio of Team Rocket was having hard times. After the 'twerps' went aboard the ferry to Cinnabar Island, they weren't able to track them down again. Their boss was getting pretty impatient as they weren't able to give him good reports. Therefore, he stopped sending them any money. They haven't been able to afford a nice meal for several days now.
"And what do we have today?" James grumbled as Jessie pulled something out of their food bag. "Eggs and pickles again, as we had yesterday... and the day before yesterday?"
Jessie grinned. "Nope, this time I managed to buy something fine... Don't you smell it?"
James sniffed. Then his eyes widened. "Is that... is that..."
"Yep," Jessie grinned. "You got it!"
And together, they squealed: "FAST FOOD!"
Some minutes later, they stared down at the glorious hamburgers and fries that were being spread on the blanket in front of them.
"I think I'm in heaven," James groaned.
Jessie inhaled the sweet scent of the food. "I can taste it already..."
"Say, just where is Meowth, by the way?" James asked as he looked around. "This isn't like him just to skip a meal like this."
"Who cares? Let's eat already!"
"Just how did you manage to buy us such a delicious meal, Jessie?" James asked. "Did you steal it?"
She shook her head. "No, it was very easy, actually... I just sold something unessential from our own stuff so I could buy us lunch."
"Well done," James grinned. "And what did you sell?"
"Ah, just your stupid old collection of bottle caps."
Silence.
"You WHAT??" James shrieked like a Misdreavus.
Jessie shrugged. "They were useless and we needed money. It was about time we got rid of that stupid collection anyway."
"How could you?" James sobbed. "Do you have any idea how much this collection means to me? I bet you sold it for much less money as it's actually worth."
"Stop whining already! This was for the good of the team!"
"You made my life miserable and empty..."
"Lickitung!"
GULP
Jessie and James stared as Lickitung swallowed all of the food Jessie had bought with one massive swipe of his enormous tongue, while Arbok and Wheezing sweatdropped.
"YOU STUPID POKÉMON!" Jessie yelled. "Look what you've done! Now we have to starve..."
"And my collection's sacrifice has been in vain," James sobbed.

Meowth could hear his two squabbling partners somewhere behind him, but he didn't care. He continued walking through the high grass until he reached a single tree.
He looked around. Was this the place?
"Meowth, I'm here!"
Meowth turned around as a dark, four-legged shape came around the tree. Yellow circles decorated the jet black fur of the Pokémon, shining like the moon itself. On it's forehead, a crescent moon sign was visible.
Meowth smirked. "Heya, babe, how are you?"
The Umbreon smirked back. "Never better, loverboy!" Then she looked at him in concern. "You okay? You look skinny... Didn't you have enough to eat in the past few days?"
He sighed. "Well, the boss didn't tolerate our failures, so we have to see for ourselves from where we get our food..."
She petted his head. "Poor little kitty... but don't worry, Mama Luna is here to take care of you!"
He faked annoyance. "Do you have fun talking to me like this?"
"Oh, definitely!" After a short pause, they both giggled.
Later, they were sitting next to each other and enjoyed some apples Luna brought with her.
"I wish we wouldn't have to meet in secret," Meowth sighed. "You could join our little gang anytime, you know? You would be a great asset for Team Rocket!"
She smiled. "Sorry, but no thanks, Meowth. That sort of life just isn't for me. Besides, you know I have a mission..."
"Right..." he sighed. "Your princess, huh?"
She nodded. "Yes! I have to find her and her guardians... and I'm afraid I have to do it alone. That's also the reason why we won't be able to see each other for a couple of days..."
"So soon?" he said in a disappointed voice. "I hoped you would at least stay another week around us."
She leaned her body against his. "I'm sorry... but I promise I'll return soon, even if I won't find her."
He hugged her. "Take care of yourself out there, you hear?"
"Of course! And you, don't let yourself being bullied around by Jessie and James!"
He snorted. "Hah! Those two wouldn't be able to tie their own shoes without me!"
She snickered. "I suppose so... Well, I gotta leave! Have a good time!"
Their muzzles met in a short kiss. "See ya, babe..."
And afterwards, she vanished in the high grass.
Meowth continued to look at the place where she had vanished a few seconds longer. Then he chuckled. "Man, if someone had told me earlier I would fall in love again, I would have laughed at him some days ago... But now, look at me..." He sighed. "I better go back to Jessie and James..."
He picked up some apples and went back to his team mates.
