It has been noted that Mihoshi has been able to cause rather... odd effects just by being in an area. In one universe, she managed to free the 'Genius Scientist' Washuu with her Control Cube, but only by complete and utter accident. On the other hand, she was also able to imprint her mind on a robot clone of said scientific wonder and created a... problem for those around her.

Considering that Asuka was not to arrive until the Sixth Angel appeared (and it was only a few days after the arrival of the Fifth), some fudging was needed. Which meant that things were not going exactly how one might expect.

Par for the course around Mihoshi actually.

So things were a bit shifted, not that Shinji really was paying attention. He could be forgiven then for not noticing that it was now:
