Weakly Usagi raised her head and dragged her body further over the forest ground. The paralysis agent from that dart the blonde-haired girl hit her with was pretty persistent... She could move, but only if she struggled. Even her mental abilities didn't help her here.
She sighed when she recalled the events from the previous evening. She and Hotaru were in her room... She sensed that something was wrong, but couldn't quite say what it was, but she could feel Chibiusa's mental distress. Then that blonde girl called Domino snuck up on them, and before Usagi could use her powers, she hit her with that paralyzing dart from a gun. She wanted to save Hotaru and tried to teleport the two of them out of there... But the paralysis made her dizzy, and she miscalculated her aim, so she didn't manage to get Hotaru. She tried to get back, but then the paralyzing agent made her lose unconsciousness.
She was feeling very bad for leaving Hotaru behind and for not being able to protect her and Chibiusa.
She also was hoping the little spore was all right...
"Meeeew..." Dang! Her legs were getting numb again. How was she supposed to save her friends if she couldn't even walk properly, let alone float?
Suddenly, something rustled within the bushes next to her. Not being able to back away, Usagi could only watch as two of the biggest Raticates she ever saw were stepping out of the thicket.
"RATTIIIII!" one of them screamed.
Usagi could easily understand what they wanted, even if she were a human: She had invaded in their territory and wasn't welcome here. They also didn't seem to give a damn about the fact that she couldn't even properly move.
"Mew..." Usagi struggled to at least stand up and tell them why she was here, and that she didn't mean to intrude, but the Raticates didn't even want to listen. One of them opened his mouth and showed her his huge buck teeth.
Usagi already knew what he was going to do: Attacking with the Hyper Fang, a deadly bite with those extremely sharp teeth.
But before he could reach her, a dark shape came out of another bush and knocked the big rat Pokémon away.
"Raticate?" The two rats were suspiciously looking at the newcomer: A sleek Pokémon with black fur, resembling some sort of fox. The yellow rings on its body were glowing mysteriously.
The Raticates were snarling angrily, but they were clearly intimidated by the creepy looks of the Umbreon.
With a growl, the Umbreon launched its body against the nearest rat and knocked it back against a tree. That was enough for the two Normal-Types: They were retreating.
The Umbreon looked back at Usagi. "They're gone for now, but they'll be back... with reinforcements! We better get out of here fast. Raticate territory is never a safe place."
Usagi stared. "Mew?" 'You speak the human language? Who are you?'
"Call me Luna, but let's speak later, okay? Here, take this berry..."
She gave Usagi a small, pink berry which she took and swallowed. Shortly afterwards, the paralyzing effect of the dart was wearing off. Shaking her head, she once again managed to use her psychic abilities to hover over the ground.
'My friends... I have to help them.'
"We will, don't worry! I know what's going on. Come, this way... I tell you everything I know on our way."
And Usagi followed the strange, talking Umbreon while it was leading her through the forest.

They were back near the laboratory complex. Security had increased visibly: At every gate, at least two Rocket Grunts were standing. Flying Pokémon like Fearows and Golbats were circling over the buildings, looking for possible intruders.
"I hope you have recovered enough to use your Teleport ability," Luna sighed. "Or else it would be pretty tough getting in there."
Usagi landed on the ground next to the Umbreon. 'Why are you helping me? Who are you anyway? You are no normal Umbreon, are you?'
Luna sighed. "I'm here to help you, that's all! I promised... an old friend... to watch over you! That's all I can tell you for now. I know it's a big demand, but... Trust me for now, okay?"
Usagi thought about it. Well, she HAD saved her from the Raticates... Also... there was something about her that made her feel secure about the situation.
"Your human friend and her father are in the cell block, that building over there... I heard some of the guards talking about it. About that cloned friend of yours, I don't know..."
'She must still be in the main lab,' Usagi guessed. 'If she didn't escape herself...'
As she didn't know what happened after Chibiusa's awakening, she also didn't know that Lab 1 was still in ruins.
Luna looked back at her. "You ready? Think you can bring us directly into the building?"
Usagi nodded. 'Yes, I think so. Just a sec...'
She closed her eyes, and a few seconds later, they both disappeared in a flash.

Hotaru and her father were pretty startled when out of thin air, the two Pokémon appeared in front of their cell.
"What the..." Professor Tomoe murmured. "Am I dreaming? A... Mew?"
"Usagi!" Hotaru happily shouted. "You're back! Huh? Who's that?"
'That's Luna!' Usagi explained. 'She's a friend! We're here to get you out of there!'
"Hurry!" Hotaru shouted. "A guard is passing through here every five minutes!"
Usagi concentrated again, and then teleported Hotaru and her father out of the cell.
"Hotaru, what... what is going on? You seem to know this Mew..."
"That's right," Hotaru nodded. "She's my best friend... she and Chibiusa..."
"Chibiusa?" Now her father really was confused. "Who's Chibiusa?"
His daughter sighed. "Mewtwo... We called her Chibiusa..."
The Professor groaned. "Look, let's talk about that later... Can your little friend take us out of here?"
'I can,' the Mew nodded. 'But we have to save Chibiusa first.'
"Hotaru... listen... I can understand she's your friend and all, but... We just can't take a powerful Pokémon like her with us... Team Rocket would be after us for all our lives... We're lucky enough that they don't know about Mew here..."
"We're saving her," Hotaru defiantly said. "Or I won't leave at all."
'Listen, Professor... it will only take a few minutes, then we're gone! Please, she's my friend as well... We have to save her!'
Tomoe let out a deep sigh. "Why does something like that always happen to me? Okay, okay, you win! But I hope you and your Umbreon friend are prepared in case the guards show up."
Luna smirked. "Don't worry, I can take care of them."
Tomoe gulped. "It talks..."

Using another Teleport, the four of them appeared inside the ruined laboratory. Usagi gasped as she looked around the rubble. 'What... what happened here?'
"I should've told you," Tomoe sighed. "Mewtwo... I mean, Chibiusa battled Team Rocket here. Only after they threatened to harm Hotaru, she agreed to come with them. And I'm afraid they might be already gone... Giovanni spoke of taking her to some sort of base..."
'Then I don't know how we're supposed to follow them,' Usagi sadly said. 'I can teleport anyplace I want, but only if I know the exact destination... Also, all this teleporting today really has worn me out. I believe I'll manage one more time, to get us out of here, but after that...'
Hotaru stroked her fur. "Don't worry, Usagi! We'll find her... somehow..."
Suddenly, a voice made them turn around. "I knew they might be back here," Domino grinned as she entered the ruined lab with two other Grunts. "And look, they have a Mew with them... The boss truly will be pleased that I managed to catch such a rare species."
'You won't get me that easily,' Mew shouted telepathically.
"Well, I can try, can I?" The Black Tulip made a commanding gesture. "Get them!"
The Rockets sent out their Pokémon, a Koffing and a Tentacruel.
"Koffing, Smokescreen!" one of them commanded.
"Koffiiiing!" The floating Poison-Type Pokémon blasted a dark cloud of smoke out of the holes on his round body.
Hotaru and her father coughed. "Usagi, can you take us out of here?"
'I'll try...' Usagi sent her thoughts only to Hotaru, so Domino and the other Rockets wouldn't hear her. 'But I'll need a few minutes to concentrate...'
"Tentacruel..." Slowly, the poisonous Water Pokémon slithered over the floor reaching out with its tentacles.
"I'll buy you some time," Luna growled and jumped in front of it. "Usagi, hurry!"
Shr rushed the giant jellyfish with a Quick Attack.
"Cruel!" Angrily, the Tentacruel snatched her with its tentacle and slammed her against the floor. Luna yelped in pain.
"Koffing!" Koffing attacked her with a Tackle, which she managed to dodge.
"Usagi, now would be a good time," the troubled Umbreon gasped.
"Haven't you still caught them?" Domino yelled. "Finish this already!"
"Tentacruel, Acid!" one of the Rockets shouted.
"Tentacruuuuuel!" The Pokémon raised its body and shot a splash of acid at the floating Mew. Even though she was concentrating, she managed to dodge.
The acid splash instead hit one of the beams supporting the ceiling above them. With a hissing sound, it slowly dissolved.
Alarmed by the sudden creaking of the ceiling, Luna looked upwards.
"Look out!" she yelled.
And then the entire ceiling came crashing down on them, threatening to bury them alive...
Domino and her men never saw how the two Pokémon and two humans disappeared in a flash of light. She only saw the rubble crashing down on them and a big cloud of dust that filled the entire room afterwards.
She grimaced. "Too bad. The boss would have really been glad to have a Mew in addition to his super-clone."

Viridian City, the Pokémon Gym... Inside the basement, a humanoid, cat-like figure was standing on a weird technological pedestal, covered by some strange armor that was attached to countless wires.
'Why do I have to wear this armor?' Chibiusa grumbled.
"It will help you to better control your psychic abilities," Giovanni grinned. "Soon enough, the first trainers trying to win a badge will get to feel your powers."
'I'll do it... But you better remember your promise: Harm Hotaru and you'll be sorry!'
"Oh, don't worry about that..."
Just then, one of his underlings entered the room. "Sir, a trainer has arrived. He wishes to challenge the leader of the Viridian Gym."
Giovanni grinned. "Hear that, Mewtwo? Your first opponent! Go out there... and show him no mercy!"
