Therefore the ninja costume that concealed much of his face and body. Clinging to walls, leaping long distances, being able to lift inordinate weights - all argued for a ninja-esque role for him. He considered samurai as being rather more heroic, and having a certain appeal, but he didn't have a sword. Now if he had found a magic sword - that would have been much better and he might have been able to fight alongside his sister.
Instead he was going with ninja because his abilities seemed more fitting for that role. He would assist his sister from the shadows. He really really really wanted to fight alongside Ami, but fighting that first yoma had indicated that he just didn't have the right equipment for that fight.
Which brought him to his current task. Finding or making equipment that would fit the ninja role. Shuriken or throwing knives or spikes were one such choice. Throwing spiders would have been good, but he'd be awfully conspicuous turning those out in metal shop at school. He didn't need climb cords or anything like that, but he DID decide to go with smoke grenades. Useful for entry, exit, and distraction. He'd learned SOME ninjitsu, and would have to add to it.
Against magic enemies, you apparently had to use magic. He still didn't have any. He might have to try again but certainly he hadn't been able to hurt that monster with normal attacks that SHOULD have had an effect based on his experience with hitting normal objects.
Hmmm. When he just crouched here, clinging to the underside of an elevated walkway, it seemed like his attention was being drawn thataway.
Well, at least he could do this much.
Kumori Mizuno was a physician, a pediatrician, and was quite aware of things occurring within her.
She knew where, when, and how. Her main activity was determining the 'what' and particularly if there were further side effects of a less benevolent nature. So far the only one found was that her appetite had changed and she was finding a craving for fruit and various higher sugar-content foods. She still had a distaste for the packaged kiddie fare similar to Western 'snack foods' - but she was finding herself going through a box of granola bars a day.
She knew, even though this was day two, that one of the things that had changed was that she was developing lean muscle mass. She was studying things as they occurred, with the full help of the lab and various personnel at the hospital. Who themselves had become well acquainted with the idea of her son running into things that were weirder than what was normally encountered by the average Tokyo resident. She simply explained that one such incident had included her, what her concerns were, and made use of the facilities a major hospital and level-one trauma center in Tokyo had available. Practically everyone remembered the poison needle incident of a few years back with Ranma ending up fighting that would-be ninja assassin.
What those co-workers were doing now was having a field day. She was a well-liked and respected physician, and nobody particularly wished her ill. She had no rivalries to speak of, though there were a few physicians who had disputed orders and procedures with her over the years. As things developed, there was a sort of conspiracy or "open secret" developing where various individuals shared the information and dreamed of figuring out how to bring "chi manipulation" into mainstream medicine.
Being able to lift a patient's stretcher all by herself had some definite benefits.
Doctor Mizuno raised her head from her notebook abruptly. "Choppers."
"I don't hear anything," said an orderly who was out of the loop. "The radio hasn't..."
"Trauma team to the emergency room now. Trauma team to the emergency room now. Pediatric patient."
"Whoa," said the orderly, glancing towards where the doctor HAD been. "Fast."
Naru frowned ever so slightly as her notebook was once again stuck to her fingers. "This is getting annoying."
Usagi smiled a little smile.
"You know what's going on, don't you?" asked Naru.
"uhm," said Usagi, wondering how Naru knew.
Naru was certain of it, watching Usagi squirm. She'd suspected a few things of late of her old friend. Now she was certain just watching how nervous Usagi was getting. "You do know what's going on."
