So, she merely sat back at her table and smiled behind her glass as she drank her iced tea as she watched her younger sister laugh along with her best friend as they teased the sole male in the room. Not that the boy in question seemed to totally mind it, as she could tell he wasn't really angry, but it was clear that he was a bit put out at the moment.
"Aw, but Ukyo, it wasn't like I wanted ta leave ya...." Ranma complained.
His wife waggled her finger at him in mock admonition. "Excuses, excuses. You could have made your father let you stay...."
"Didn't know that he wanted me ta go until he dragged me away...."
"I know."
"Then why are ya...."
"Idiot," Akane commented in affectionate tones. "She's just teasing. Remember?"
"Oh, right...."
"You know, I can't believe you sometimes. I'm just glad that we're friends, and not dating or something."
"Why is that?"
The youngest Tendo gave him a flat look as she pointed her chopsticks at him. "We'd probably wind up fighting so much that we'd never understand how we'd get together. So, don't think to bad about it, but if you were free, I wouldn't want to keep you as my boyfriend."
"Well, I for one am glad that I can keep him," Ukyo murmured as she passed a droll look over her husband.
"You are?" said spouse asked, brightening a bit.
"Sure. Don't have a choice, do I? We're married, after all."
"Oh, Ucchan...."
"Just joking, Ranchan. I wouldn't trade you for anything in the world."
"And you know it too, Ranma," Nabiki drawled, arching a brow at him. "You also know about how well liked you are, so no feeling sorry for yourself, okay?"
"Yeah, yeah...." he muttered, and sighed heavily.
"Come on, Ranma. This is a party. There will be no feeling sorry for yourself here," Akane firmly stated.
"That's right. And if you don't relax, it'll make me worry," Ukyo agreed.
"You don't want that, do you?"
"Besides, we're back together now, and we won't have to worry about being parted again."
Nodding, the Tendo heir leaned toward her male friend. "And you'll be staying with us...."
"He might not be doing that for long," the middle Tendo sister interrupted.
"How can you say that?" Kasumi gasped. "We would be pleased to have him stay with us for as long as he needs to."
"Yeah, we would. Dad is a different story."
"Why would that be?"
Nabiki leaned back in her chair and stretched her shapely legs in front of her. "Think about it. Daddy's reason for having Ranma and his wide load of a father stay with us is due to that promise that he made. Once he finds out that Ranma has already 'broken' that promise, he might want to toss him out immediately."
"Oh...." murmured the eldest Tendo girl, and mirrored the downcast expression of the sixteen year old trio.
"Come on. Perk up. That might not be all that bad."
"But, where would Ranma go?"
"There is a chance that he'd go back to his family home...."
"That wouldn't be a big help for us," the youngest Tendo scoffed.
"No, but the possibility of him coming here might."
"Huh?"
"Think about it, would you? What would be more natural than a husband and wife living together?" the short haired girl reminded her companions. "If nothing else, then he could stay with his wife like the both of them would want to."
"Hey, that's true, right, Ranchan?" the chef chirped.
Ranma gave a small smirk. "Pheh. What else would I do?"
"Now that we've gotten past that bit of dark thinking, why don't we get back into party mode?" Nabiki asked the others. "Okay?"
That got her nods from her sisters and friends, while:
