Pluto Plucks The Strings (V2) - Cars!?: Car-kind : Of 'Invisible Appendages' Et Al [Episode 175033]

by Linnara

Meiou Setsuna sighed, looking over her report she had to give in. Professor Tomoe's classes were not known as being especially hard to pass, but that didn't mean she could slack off, either.

OK, OK, so she'd been planning to write about about the Intelligent Two-wheelers - Motorbikes and such - and Three-wheelers, and their history...

(All Intelligent Vehicles have so-called 'invisible appendages' that are very similar to each other, with only minor differences. The majority of non-sapient species which are closest to our species usually have four 'invisible limbs'which end in either 'hooves' or 'paws', an 'invisible clamp' (which is sometimes called a 'invisible mouth') and a 'invisible tail'. Car-kind seems to lack the 'tail', though we more then make up for it with our 'hands'...)

Setsuna chewed her lip, wondering if she should mention the animals which did seem to have 'invisible hands', though those usually did seem to have 'invisible tails' too. She would, if only for a paragraph, she decided - she didn't want the Professor to think she'd forgotten all about such a basic thing, after all.

The other species that weren't so close Car-kind usually had different kinds of 'invisible appendages' it seemed, but she really didn't have to mention them in this essay, she supposed.

She grinned, then, remembering a certain teacher of hers in Elememtary School, who had actually had everybody in his class make their 'invisible arms' - well, the 'hands' part - as 'material' as possible, and then had taken prints of them. It had been quite amusing to see everybody - the four-wheelers, the two-wheelers, even a 'motorized scooter-chair' boy, all had basically the same kind of 'hands'. All except one, that is.

Setsuna sobered, then, remembering the teacher looking at the print, blinking, and then looking at a certain classmate of hers sadly, though he'd tried not to show it... And then they'd been many teachers and the school nurse talking the the corridors, and... Well, it had been the first time that she'd realized that teachers could be scolded, too.

And it had also been the first time that she'd realized that some people had such things as 'invisible arms' that - weren't quite right.

Oh, that particular classmate of hers wasn't so badly off, all things considered - she had only three fingers on one 'hand', but the other one was quite normal, and she could do most things a normal 'hand' could even with the three-fingered one - she could even hold a pen with it, if she recalled correctly - , so it was only a minor disability. The people with no 'invisible arms' at all, on the other hand -

Setsuna sighed, then. No, no, concentrate on the report, darnit -

(There are many theories about how the Intelligent Two-wheelers and Three-wheelers have come to be, but the recent research seems to point at...)

Some Two-wheelers and Three-wheelers actually were born with 'fused' wheels - wheels that looked like they were fused together, that is - as far as she knew, though those kind of things were easily correctable by modern medicine, and usually were fixed as soon as possible. Well, since they were all descended from four-wheelers, it did make sense, she supposed...
