"We only have to deal with him!" Saotome cried.
"Ranma Saotome..." Ryunosuke stepped forward.
"I ain't gonna be examined! Uh, uh! No way! Not again! As soon as the Chinese tried to put my feet in stirrups I busted away from 'em! I'm a guy!!"
"Your family doctor'll do. Really, the government wants everything kept as low key as possible." The man sat down on the floor, trying to look casual.
"What??" everyone cried. {Damn! That puts a crimp in my plans to cash in on Ranma's fame.}
"You're, to quote, "the center of a political storm that threatens to tear not just Japanese society apart". Unquote"
Everyone blinked. This was news to them.
"Aha!" Nabiki thought she had it. "The Traditionalists, rightwingers, homophobes and the like don't like the idea of a girl being allowed to think and act like a guy."
"And there are "Traditionalists, rightwingers, homophobes and the like" who're scared spitless that they, personally, might have to. If a precedent's established, and Ranma has to become a girl like other girls, what happens if the aliens turn other guys into gals?"
"So, it's...war over Ranma?" Soun asked. "There are those organized to force the boy to behave like a girl...."
"And those who'll do whatever it takes to keep Ranma out of skirts and beauty parlors," Nabiki finished.
"That's why Ranma must be kept out of the public eye, and their grasps. I'm in charge of keeping Ranma Saotome under house arrest." Ryunosuke got an angry look. "Ironic, ain't it."
