{Oo! If I weren’t targeting Ranma, I could go for this guy...physically. But he seems too Straight Arrow to take bribes. Sigh: No money.} “You know my name?” Nabiki asked.
“Yeah. All a them. ‘ Been staking out the only known address of Indiscriminate Grappling disciples for three weeks,” Mr. Fujinami explained. “It’s my job; ‘ sorry. ‘ Would’ve introduced myself proper-like the instant Ranma Saotome showed, but the reporters were working as a team. They almost had me on a wild goose chase. Embarrassing!” The slim man rubbed the back of his head. {So, that cool, intimidating Men-In-Black act is ankle-deep with this guy. He now sounds like a surfer dude, or something. Still melty, but in a different way.}
“Oh, my!” There was a distinct pause before Kasumi thought to add, “...Company. And an older man, too.” {Early 20’s counts as “older” for Big Sis, huh? I was thinking Over-one-hundred, like Dr. Tofu let on he was.} “Come in, won’t you?” she invited the man in their garden.
Inside, Daddy was on his knees, weeping over the demolished common room. Even the mats were missing, exposing the joists.
“Leave this to me, Folks,” Fujinami said. He pulled something small out from under his suit coat. It unfolded spectacularly, like a mad scientist’s dream of a Transformer toy, until it was a sci-fi rifle the size of him.
“That, that’s so...cool,” Akane said in wonder. {This from a gal that can take hammers from out of nowhere.}
“No!!” Daddy yelled, waving his arms in front of the barrel. “Hasn’t my home been broken enough!?”
“Step aside, please,” the G-man said. His seriousness scared Daddy away. He fired in the next instant.
When the flash of light was gone, every thing in the common room was as it had been before Ranma had torn it up. {Wow, even I’m impressed.} “Sorry. It doesn’t work on life forms.”
“Is that something issued by the INS?” Nabiki asked, thinking of the Men In Black movies.
“No. It’s an Oni artifact.”
“Ogres?” Ranma’s dad was really interested, then. “...Like, striped demons with horns?”
“The problem is, folding it back up again!” Fujinami struggled to do just that. With every refold, some other part wanted to fold out into something other than the Destroy-the-Evidence (Only) rifle.
