To tell the truth, he was a little too busy at the moment. Now that he had clothes on, he was able to really take his time in flexing before the mirror. From times when he bent his arm to see his biceps, to checking out his chest, to posing to show what sort of a figure of a man he was, he was way too interested in himself to pay attention to anything else. After all, he'd never been this buff even when he'd been a young man. Back then, even during the times when he'd been well muscled, he had still looked stocky.
There was no avoiding the fact that his son was providing well for him, just as the boy should. To tell the truth, despite his opinion that a man his age should be treated with respect and dignity, not tossed out to train in battles, he had to appreciate all that his son's plan had done for him. Now he was in the best shape of his life, had a wonderful mane of hair and was actually going to live the 'good life', seeing as the fact that his son was the 'Overlord', whatever exactly that meant. Because of that, he wouldn't have any worries from then on, and didn't need to take advantage of even the most dear plans that he'd made over the years.
When that came up in his mind, it brought up the realization that such a dismissal would include the Tendo promise. Such a thing was something that he was loathe to do, given his history with the man. His friend had stuck with him through thick and thin during those horrible years with the Master, and they'd wanted to combine the schools when their children had gotten old enough. Honor, friendship, and that promise all directed him to follow through with what had been sworn upon during that harrowing time.
On the other hand, his son was providing quite well for him. He didn't need to go bother Tendo for a place to stay, or for the dowry, which they'd be entitled to.
So, on one side he had honor and friendship pushing him to act, and on the other, he could avoid the hassle of dealing with his friend's work.
And after some close consideration, he decided that it would be best if:
