Living Vehicles - Seeds'N Gundams: One Fine Day, At The Hibiki Residence... [Episode 176364]

by Linnara

Dr Ulen Hibiki stared.

He couldn't stop himself.

He had spent years, even close to decades, laboring day and night on this project. Running around getting funds from fools who would just not understand, and, and -

And...

Ohh, the Gods did have a sense of humor, did they not?

"He's..." One of his somewhat less worthless assistants cleared his throat, then. "Ahh, should we commerce scanning, then? Doctor Hibiki?"

He couldn't move. Nor say a word. All he could do was just stay on site like a lump of coal, staring and staring...

The funds. His backers. Oh, how they would laugh...

"Dr Hibiki! Shall we start scanning now, or are you going to just keep on standing there like a lump, sir!"

Now it was that damnably abrasive Tech, damn that bloody female Jeep.

"Or more to the point..." Somebody else murmured. "Is he ever going to do something like, well, name him? Or try to talk to him, or something?"

Ulen nearly wilted. Ahh, no, damnit...

"My wife..." He scrambled. "Via. Where is she? I...can't name him without..."

Never mind that he'd been planning to do just that to mere minutes ago. Where was the female, anyway! She should be here, it just happened to be the culmination of her husbands most ambitious project up to date, after all...

The Tech sniffed at him. She sniffed at him! "Your lady wife went up to pick up your baby, Doctor. All by herself. - The other one, that is."

Ulen nearly tilted himself over. It was today? Of all the inconvenient -

- Well -

Never mind that.

Ulen Hibiki drew himself up. He'd had setbacks before, and he'd always managed to come back stronger and faster then ever, and that was the way it would be this time, too.

It would. He'd make sure of it.

"Well, since it seems likely that my wife has already named the - other one - as she seems fit - Mark his name down as 'Kira' for the duration then. - Begin scanning. Now."

***************************************

Ulen was nervous. He couldn't remember being this nervous since...

Via was...Via was coming back, right? She wouldn't just take the - other child - and leave him.

Right?

And there was the bell-tone of the door...

"...Oh. Husband. You're home." Via Hibiki said, dully. Ulen nearly sagged with relief. She was here, she was here -

But why did she look so...worn?

"Yes, yes I am. Ahh... the, um, other one?"

"Our child is well, Ulen." Via repeated, dully. " - How was the other one, by the way?"

Ulen choked, and swallowed. "Via, I, I didn't mean it when I said - "

"That he was just yours?" Via sighed.

"Well of course not, he's ours. Just like, you know, that one?"

Ulen indicated somewhere behind his wife, where the - his - child presumably was. Just why was she - not showing him the child, anyway?

Via looked at her husband wearily, a hint of trepidation starting to color her eye-windows. "Is there something wrong with him. There is, isn't there..."

Ulen nearly choked. "No, no, he's perfectly healthy, highly intelligent, and all the scores are higher then expected if anything - "

Via just looked at him. "What is wrong, then?"

Ulen looked at her. And sighed. And looked at her again.

"I - I named him Kira. I hope you don't mind?"

"Well, I named our daughter Cagalli. So no."

Cagalli, huh? A good name.

"So, ahhh..." Ulen sighed, then. "What if - we both show each other the - other one. At the same time."

"...That seems all right." Via sighed again, and beckoned. Ulen went and motioned behind the kitchen door, where a shadow lurked.

A rather small shadow, all things considered.

"So one...two...three..."

A small soft lined and cute shape emerged from the kitchen, while a small, boxy and cute shaped emerged from behind her mother.

"Errrrrrr..."

"Ummmmmm..."

It didn't take long for either parent to figure out that if the two children weren't the exact same shape, they were both very close in size indeed.

"Ahh...husband?"

"Ummm... Yes?"

"This...wasn't quite what you were designing for, if I understand correctly..."

" - No. The probably non-existant Gods are making fun of me - us -, regardless. We were trying for something more like, well..."

"Al Da Flaga?" Via said, quietly.

"Not quite, but...more that way then, well, how he turned out..." Ulen sighed, watching Kira nuzzle his sister. She nuzzled him back, studying him.

"...And my son is the one who has the soft round lines, while my daughter is the boxier one. - Ahh, well." Via smiled, then. Ulen started, realizing that he hadn't seen his wife smile for...a long time, anyway.

"Cute little city-cars are the ones who get the most fun, anyway."

"Or so they say." Ulen nodded, thinking furiously. His backers - his funds - and above all, his enemies - things could get dangerous here, very shortly.

Even more dangerous, that is.

Maybe he should suggest that his wife head back towards her parents place in Orb, along with little Cagalli, till things settled down, anyway. He'd even consider suggesting she take Kira along as well, expect -

Ahh, the complications!

Ulen rubbed his top. He had to think.
