"You don't mean...." Genma began, his expression completing his sentence for him.
"Exactly! We let him know then and there, and since he will be right there in front of everyone, he can't deny anything!"
"It does sound promising, though...."
"What could be the problem?"
The formerly bald man ran a hand over his hair. "The thing is that I have to wonder about how the boy will be able to have one of your daughters as his bride with all of those girls after him...."
"That would be a problem. Would your son just give one of my babies the brush off?"
"I don't think so. He seems happy to have a girl be with him. It's just... they are there."
"Well then, he can get rid of them. Or do something else to keep them out of the way, right?" the Tendo Patriarch asked, giving his old friend a firm stare down.
"I'm sure that he could."
"He's not married to any of them?"
"To tell the truth," Genma responded with a wry look to his face as he considered the women in question, "I don't think that they would be at all put out if he actually did marry another girl. In fact, they might even... welcome it."
"Then what could be trouble for us. You aren't rethinking our plans, are you?"
"Of course not! I just don't want to see the promise that we've been waiting to fulfill for ten years to be broken by something stupid."
Soun gave him a wide smile. "We'll have a simple situation, won't we?"
"Absolutely. Remember, you are my old friend, and inviting you and your daughters would be the natural thing to do. Of course...."
"You just so happen to also have a pledge with me to marry one of my daughters to your son."
"Pretty much. Just one thing."
"What is it, old friend?"
"Will you have any problems with your daughters? You'll have to get them to the meeting spot."
"I'm their father," the mustached man scoffed. "And they are dutiful daughters. I'm sure that they'll be perfectly willing to go through with what I'll ask them to do. Especially since it falls upon a matter of family honor."
"Then there is only one thing left to do."
"I agree."
"It is Genma...."
"And Soun's...."
"Operation 'Surprise Engagement'!" the two men chorused, with the 'master' of the home smacking a bottle of sake onto the table, and the other pulling out some cups.
Ranma stopped in mid-stride as he moved down the corridor and frowned slightly.
"What is it?" James asked with a small frown.
"I'm not sure. It was like I just had a sense that something was going to happen...." the Overlord trailed off, while:
