DemonKen: This Ain't A Yellow Brick Road [Episode 178089]

by Kestral

Nabiki, Kasumi, and Akane were not sure what to make of all this. An old friend of their father’s whom they had never heard of before, who didn’t look at all like what they might have expected.

Genma Saotome was a tall man, powerfully built, with a thick wavy head of hair. He looked younger than their father and he was also much more solidly built. Squinty eyes behind glasses, except that Nabiki could tell that the glass part had been removed.

“So we’re here,” said Nabiki, looking around the park.

“Is there a bus coming or something?” asked Akane.

“Something,” said Genma, pulling out an odd object that looked like a garage door opener.

“You dragged us out here for a bus ride?” asked Nabiki.

“There,” said Genma, pushing the button.

ding whoosh

Nabiki had been planning on making additional points, but the sight of an elevator rising up out of the ground and opening up sort of derailed what she had been planning on saying.

A girl with very curly hair in two ponytails stood in the elevator. “Ground floor. Earth, Tokyo access point. Going up?”

The three Tendo daughters looked at each other while their father just gaped.

“Shall we go?” asked Genma, rubbing his hands. This was going to be good.

When the elevator opened again, it was on the crowded bazaar level.

The pony-tailed girl bowed as they left. “Promenade of the Overlord’s battleplanetoid. The arboreum is to the right, mage’s library to the left, shops straight ahead, and Deunan’s Tavern is behind us. Please enjoy your stay.”

“Okay,” said Nabiki, watching a tree walking towards the arboreum. “This is getting seriously weird.”
