Aramar, 8th Age: Equipment [Episode 178201]

by Kestral

Ranma looked over the dwarven city and decided that sticking around wasn't for him.

Not only was everything built for much shorter people, but there was some hostility from a number of the locals. Not all. Not by a long shot, some were very friendly towards him and actually intervened when someone was trying to give him a bad deal or overcharge him for something.

Still, he felt within two hours of arrival that he'd already overstayed his welcome.

"Aw, man, this sucks," said Ranma, sitting back. "Where do I go from here?"

"What do you seek?" asked the girl.

"I ain't sure," admitted Ranma. "I just got wished out of existence by that dumb tomboy."

The girl in question looked at him, not betraying any emotion.

"So what's your story, anyway?" asked Ranma. "You're some kinda weapon, right?"

"Yes," said the girl. "During the Civil War, there were many factions. The dwarves started out building elaborate machines of destruction to combat the elves use of elementals and summoned creatures. At one point the reptine became involved, and the great mages of that race sought to create their own defenses along similar lines. Their golems and warforged soldiers became more powerful as the war continued. Then the dwarves came up with those such as myself. A way of forming living weapons unlike any such soldier before. There was great debate, even with the war raging, about the morality of such a thing but after the loss of Stonefell such considerations were tabled. The elves of High-home had created an entropy elemental."

"That's nice, but what's that got to do with you?" asked Ranma.

"I was one of those birthed through the process of magic," said the girl. "By partnering with a mortal Wielder, which was to act as a safety-lock on our powers, I can access powers of magic. With a bond to a correct Wielder, I can access sufficient power that even such as an entropy golem can be defeated."

"So what kinda 'powers'?" asked Ranma.
