"I'm going to lose my job, aren't I?" Siiko whined, her eyes watering pitiably. “I want to stay a servant!”
"We're ALL going to loose our jobs," Eiko put on only a braver face. “I don’t want to be an employee.”
"This is the end of the Maid Tai," Biko said with the sorrow of one losing a family to tragedy. “I want to remain part of the team.”
“The economy in Japan certainly isn’t healthy,” Dee agreed, continuing to do things on the console.
Ukyo didn’t understand what her being a girl rather than a guy had to do with whether they kept their menial jobs, or not. But if these three didn’t release her, as the seeming inheritor of the Hanaukyo fortune, she’d fire all of their sorry, maid butts! Aah! The pleasure gets worse the mo’ Ah struggle.
“Do you remember the days of job security?” Siiko said, nostalgically (this from a girl who didn't look more than thirteen).
“Those were the days,” Eiko smiled, too, wistfully. “Once you were hired, you had a job for life. There was no need for welfare.”
“And all the company asked from you in return was to work yourself to death," sighed Biko, the oldest at no more than 25-years. "Damn globalization and its neo-liberal economics!”
“Hakusai-sama understood how the Old Covenant Between a Lord with his Servants was supposed to work,” Dee agreed.
“But the Retrograde, Confucist, Old Fart doesn’t believe woman should inherit property!!” Siiko yelled.
Now, Ukyo understood. Her own old man, the son-in-law of the female-mind-controlling pervert, also believed a son was better than a daughter. That’s why he raised her as like a he would a boy. But even though he had made her legally a guy, the Good Ol' Boy could never forget she was a girl. And that’s why he thought he needed son-in-law, even a 6-year-old like Ranma, to pass the family business on to. Gee, Ah don't know what he and Grandpa didn't get along: The Male Chauvinists! No wonder Grandpa didn’t bother diggin’ behind the surface: He WANTED to believe he had male heir.
Then she came out of her own thoughts too see Siiko frozen, as well. Lights and indicators on another console had suddenly been activated. Biko went to look at those. “I think it says it’s just a temporary lapse of judgment. She should return to Maid-mode shortly.”
“Fine! I haven’t the time to deal with her unservantly outbursts,” Dee said at her console. “I have to be careful not to do anything that might alert Grace to what I’m doing when she comes back to the precious computer she designed.” And when she said “precious”, it sounded like she did believe it was a treasure…or perhaps, an idol.
“Just don’t get us deactivated,” Eiko said, on edge. “Or maybe turned into fembots!”
“Grace prefers us human,” Biko reminded her, and herself. “Its part of her revenge for what we did to her growing up.”
“Biko: Stop! Do you want to become like Siiko is, now?”
“There!” Dee exclaimed, tapping the last in a long serious of touchpad taps. “I can't reprogram her without Grace or her staff being notified, but I have put Ukyo in a basic trance through the maid badge she has on. It won't last long, and we can, maybe, only alter her thinking and memory through one major suggestion.”
