For the three daughters Tendo, having been dumped back here without their father, it was still pretty bad.
Ten years of their lives had been lost. Akane was six years old, Nabiki seven, Kasumi nine. Physically they looked almost exactly the way they had done at those ages.
Mentally, they remembered being older but their emotional states tended to conform to those of that level of development.
Worse were the side effects. Side effects that made them unsuitable for various purposes the Yakuza COULD have put even such young girls to.
Nabiki, for example. Once the shrewd manipulator and profiteer. Now she fell asleep at odd times, a form of narcolepsy that struck with only a few precursor symptoms to warn her.
Kasumi was even worse off. She found herself at age nine and having to get out a step stool to reach things on shelves again, but also with some odd sensitivity to her body. She was extremely ticklish, but simply stroking her hair caused her to get drowsy and lethargic.
Akane's emotional control was nearly nonexistent. She could, and did, go into crying jags with little provocation. She could, and did, have giggle fits entirely out of proportion to the trigger. She could get angry, or fearful, or any number of other moods - and these also were brief and extremely intense. Whenever these triggered, she tended to be exhausted right afterwards.
They had been home two days, trying to cope, when someone came to the house.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" screamed Akane, retreating before the wild panda attacking her house.
Nabiki stared, beginning to panic herself, then bonelessly collapsed as she fell asleep.
"Oh dear, oh my," said Kasumi, holding a frypan and trying to shield herself.
"Aw, c'mon, Pop! You're scaring 'em spitless," said the redhaired girl being carried by the panda.
"Growf?" said the panda, wondering if this was the wrong house.
