“So he’s in there for certain?” asked Sailor V, looking at a seemingly dilapidated warehouse.
Artemis nodded. “That is the best guess my sources can offer.”
Sailor V stared at him for a bit. “And these sources are what, exactly?”
Artemis paled a bit, not exactly certain how he could explain how it had come from a few alley cat strays he had chatted with—but he did learn which local cats seemed to be getting into heat soon—when their conversation was interrupted by a giant hole forming in the roof of the warehouse.
“You were saying,” paused Artemis, trying to sound smug.
V growled, before leaping towards the battle that had started without her.
Danburite sighed as he looked over his troops. “Any word yet from the other Generals?” he asked.
A youma shook her head. “We were sent the same reply every time; ‘not after what he did to Kunzite’.”
“He can’t be that strong,” muttered the General.
“Oh, but I am, and more,” came a disembodied voice.
Several of the youma paled, so strong was the intent to kill coming from everywhere.
“Who dares disturb me?” yelled Danburite.
“Your boss,” said the voice, materializing behind the General, and sending the man flying forward with a single punch to the back.
A human-like youma appeared behind him, holding a clip-board. “You have only half an hour to deal with him sir, before you have the meeting you wanted.”
“Ah yes,” said Ranma, smirking.
“You won’t be making that meeting,” said Danburite, slowly standing tall. “I take it you are that weak leader who claims to have defeated Beryl, Metallia, and Kunzite?”
A dark chuckled grew in the air, and though they all could see Ranma was causing it, it seemed to flow from every direction. “Oh yes, they all died by my hands.”
“I find it highly unlikely that a recent convert to the Negaverse could have done such.”
Ranma smiled. It was true that he had defeated them all before his knowledge had spiked due to Pluto’s machinations. It was by trained skill, his whit, and his ability to use energy better than they could that saved him. From his point, and thanks to his training, he got more ‘bang for the buck’ as it were, as he used the energy with much more efficiency than they had ever been able to. Energy that they would waste in a day, he could make last weeks or longer, where they leaked it out, his was tightly controlled.
Oh, he had been quite lucky, even with his new talents, he still did not consider himself invincible. That was a folly of the former ruler as well as himself from the martial artist timeline, believing he was the best and always would be.
Being reduced to a cripple in two timelines and tortured as a recruit had cured him of that mindset. It had been a weakness he was glad not to have been imparted with in this life.
“Plus, what the hell did the fuzzy rabbit have to do with defeating Kunzite?”
Ranma blinked. “Fuzzy rabbit?”
“It would appear that the rumors of his death were exaggerated,” said the secretary youma. “I shall release the true circumstances when we return.”
Ranma nodded. “Anyway, it would seem you were planning an insurrection, and that is not something I can allow.”
“Really?”
Ranma snorted. “Why Beryl took you in, Adonis, is beyond me.”
Danburite paled. How did he know his true name?
“Don’t be so shocked,” said Ranma. “I’ve learned many things in my time among the Negaverse and its prisoners. You can learn a lot if you know where to look.” The fact that said information came from the Gates of Time; he didn’t feel the need to mention. After all, why allow a good trump card to be known. “Would you like to know what I learned about your life?”
The Dark General paled, as he took a step back. “You know...”
Ranma merely nodded. “Quite sad, actually; but I’ve seen worse tales of woe.
“But don’t think that will save you now. I can’t tolerate traitors in my midst.”
Danburite growled, before charging Ranma, intent on showing what a weakling the former human was. After all, there was no way he could be stronger than someone who had trained in the Negaverse for 10,000 years.
Several youma, seeing their boss streak to attack the intruder, followed suit.
Ranma merely shook his head. After all, loyalty should be to your ruler first, and your regional boss second. Jadeite’ll need to bring some fresh troops. With that, Ranma held his hand upwards, as he gathered the necessary energy from the area, adding it to his own energy, forming a mix between his martial arts chi attack and a magic attack his sorcerer self had discovered. “Just so you all know; you’re fired.”
Sailor V could only stare at the destruction. All around her, steel beams bowed outwardly, the concrete base showed cracks and chunks missing. It was an impressive feat of destruction.
And only two people remained. “Who are you?” she yelled out. The male figure turned to face her, revealing ... a blur? She couldn’t make out his face.
Ranma smirked; glad he had been able to figure out the disguise trick the Senshi used to stay hidden in plain sight. “I am the new ruler of the Negaverse, Sailor Venus.”
Sailor V gasped. He knew her real identity ... well, the other identity.
“Or should I call you Minako Aino with her advisor, Artemis?”
Okay, he knew her real, real identity. “What do you want?”
“Nothing, I’ve already dealt with the traitors in the Dark Syndicate. You’ll find it much quieter here now.”
“So you’re giving up your evil ways?” she asked.
“Perhaps,” he said, “I think of it as retooling for a new approach. After all, my troops and cohorts do need to feed.” With that, the two began to fade from sight.
“Wait!” she yelled out. “What is your name?”
“Now that ... is a secret.”
“Sailor V,” growled out Artemis, “get up from the ground. Face faulting is not appropriate for a defender such as you.”
“You quoted Xellos?” asked the secretary youma, as the duo appeared back in Tokyo.
Ranma smiled. “Well, it will add to their suspicion if Pluto does it. She seems to do that in a lot of timelines.”
Nodding, the youma looked over her pad. “You need to hurry, or you’ll miss your appointment.”
Ranma nodded, as he headed off to...
