Daughters of Divergent Timelines: Starting off on the right Yen [Episode 17916]

by Targhan

Ranma was grumbling something about crazy genie's, bottles, goofy wishes, and daughters, when he finally slipped out of the Tendo household. "Free at last," he thought elegantly bounding for the outer wall of the Tendo compound.

The startled cry of "GACK" could be heard for miles, when he simultaneously jumped to the top of a power-pole at the sight in front of the gates! There must have been a dozen, no two dozen, girls! Angry girls, happy girls, girls with fur, girls with fangs, and far too many of them were calling for "Daddy!"

Without a further glance, Ranma's self preservation kicked in, or he ran like a turkey on Thanksgiving (whichever you prefer). Fences, trees, houses, and entire blocks became a blur as the Saotome secret technique drove him further and further away from the madness. His sole thought repeated like a silent mantra, "Oh shit!"

Even as the miles between him and the compound formerly known as the Tendo dojo multiplied, the sounds of battle were already at sounding across the country of Japan.

The visibly shaken Ranma found a salary-man yakisoba stand, made an order, and then sat at a nearby bench. "Whew," he thought, "that was close."

"Really, Daddy," came the voice from behind him, "you can really work up a mess."

In a shock-like state, Ranma turned, complete with a massive eye-twitch, to see the source of the comment.

"Don't worry, Daddy," the girl smiled, "I'm not going to drag you back or anything."

Ranma's eye twitched more as he discovered a whole new problem. "How am I supposed to remember all these names?!"

The girl, with an almost eerie sixth sense replied, "I'm Saotome Nyoko, Nabiki's daughter."

Ranma sweat-dropped, and in the most intelligent voice he could muster, replied, "Eh, hehehe."

"Now, Daddy," She began, "I think I got this figured out."

At this point Ranma's nervous twitch was somehow magnified into a series of full-fledged shudders.

"Daddy, calm down," Nyoko's eyes widened with concern, "Oh, yeah, you don't know yet... I," the beginnings of a blush form on her face, "usually scam Mom, so we can train together and stuff..."

Watching the girl blush did as much for Ranma's composure as her words. Maybe the child of Nabiki wasn't necessarily evil?

"Don't worry, I'll figure out some way to charge some ice-cream out of Mom over this," Nyoko added with a smile before continuing, "We're in a time-paradox of some kind." Noticing the glazed over look her father wore, she changed her tactic, "some magic thing screwed up a bunch of stuff, but at least you don't have to fight a whole bunch of copies of yourself."

This, Ranma understood, "That would be bad, and army of me's could whip the world into shape!"

At this, it was Nyoko's turn to bigsweat, that was Dad allright.

A third voice made itself known, "Hello Saotome, for 10000 yen, I'll clue you in on a secret."

Before Ranma could reply, Nyoko spoke up, "I beat you here, so that's 12000 yen you owe me. Plus, I told him already, so that's another 10000 yen penalty."

Nabiki and Ranma both looked at the girl, "WHAT?!"

With a lopsided grin, the girl cheered, "When Mommy doesn't know what Daddy will do and I do a 10000 yen bonus for Nyoko!"

Suddenly, Nabiki felt a cold shiver run down her spine, "she's scary."

(---)

A few hours later, Ranma found himself sitting in the dojo, awaiting some interviews with the prospective daughters to explain how life was with their family. "It makes sense," he grumbled, "but do they BOTH have to charge admission?

(---)

In a distant part of Japan, a feint howling could be heard carrying over the wind, and three priests looked whispered, "The dimension hound...."
