Ranma's Wish: A Little Princess [Episode 179185]

by Kestral

"She's a quiet little girl, isn't she?" asked the maid as the mother approached.

"She is," agreed Masaki Misaki Jurai. "I've just received word that apparently she's to be engaged."

"Really?" asked the maid. Arranged marriages weren't THAT startling, even prior to the child's birth. "To someone other than this individual I'd heard rumors of?"

"No, it's the same one," said Masaki, unusually distracted and therefore unusually focussed. "The detail nobody saw fit to inform me of is that he hasn't been born yet. Nor will he be for another eight hundred years."

The maid took a step back. The not born yet wasn't unusual, of course. The time frame WAS odd. "She'll be older than him?"

"The Oracle gave one of those answers," said a voice from the doorway. Funaho stood there, looking as serious as ever.

"Ah," said the maid, accepting that. Odd answers that seemed to indicate a tangle of possibilities, or both yes-and-no to a single question, WERE one of the reasons that hardly anyone went to the Oracle anymore.

"Wild Stallion Rides The Lands Of The First Wife," said Azusa, later with his two wives. "That part is clear."

Funaho nodded. "Japan. Sasami's intended is of my homeland."

Azusa ignored how Misaki was currently going off on a tearful "my poor baby" jag, as this was a serious conversation and playing along with the usual goings-on was going to detract from that event. "Nor is he born yet."

"'When Ayeka's Intended Takes To The Sword,
Seek A Single Wing Unfurling,
To Block The Bite Of The Pool Of Sorrows,'" said Funaho, also trying for a serious atmosphere. Though it was a little difficult with Misaki biting her sleeve and pouting.

"I'll send an agent, who will keep an eye out for Sasami's intended," said Azusa. "After that, we'll see. Even if the Oracle says things like that, who knows how it will play out? After all, she also predicted that 'the galaxy will know the true terror of Misaki' and that 'only Tenchi could stop her'."

Glancing at her co-wife, Funaho allowed that while she could be a terror at time, maybe there was a different Misaki involved.

Panic. After all, a normal reaction when one just received evidence that this blather about 'cursed springs' had something to it - evidenced by when one's father turned into a panda and attacked. Absolute panic as a blow connected and he felt himself heading towards a spring. "AGHHHHHHHH!"

FWUM!

Ranma relaxed slightly as the light-shield that had appeared once during the nekoken training reappeared, this time solid instead of ghostly. He impacted it and slid off onto the ground.

Thank goodness, he might have turned into a panda. That would've sucked.
