If he kept one or two for himself, it simply meant that he was rewarding himself for a job well done.
Not only was this going to mellow out the girls in question to some extent, AND keep them busy, he'd also be torquing the shorts of a certain Senshi of Time. He could fix Rei up with Yuuichiro, Ami with Ryo...
His celphone began ringing. Ranma smiled and answered it. "Why, hello, Mister Urawa."
"So how is fixing these Senshi up with boyfriends helping US?" asked the secretary.
"Other than further draining their time and energy?" asked Ranma, preoccupied with his current task.
"Hmmm, oddly enough, I can see it," said the secretary. Her boss was delightfully subtle, always having several reasons behind his actions. She had gotten used to these apparently benelovent acts concealing sinister repercussions.
"Besides, what's my primary motivation besides now being responsible for the Shadow Nation?" asked Ranma.
"I thought we were going with 'Shadow Realm'?" asked the secretary.
"I'm trying out various terms before the final decision," answered Ranma. "That's beside the point. Come on, you've worked with me for a little while now."
"Vengeance," said the secretary with some hesitation. She had some skill in emotion-reading. "I'm not sure how or why, but I do know of at least one Who and one What."
"Oh?" asked Ranma.
"She whom you stole that decoration from," said the secretary, indicating the bound Gates. "That set of pools in China."
"Both have screwed up my life in ways that you cannot comprehend," said Ranma. "For this reason, as well as the skills that he can bring to our organization, I want every courtesy extended to Mister Ryo Urawa."
"I don't understand, but will comply," said the secretary.
"Good," said Ranma. "I may be bringing other human operatives in as well. The reasons for this are many, not the least of which that various talents not found here in the Dark Fantasia can be found in the human world. The only problem is keeping various less-disciplined yoma from trying to snack on the help."
"Yet what can a mere human do? Present company excepted," said the secretary.
"The Dark Generals were human once too," said Ranma. "Now, what of the power-regulator experiments? Any word?"
"More efficient use of existing power IS possible, and the regulatory bracers seem theoretically within limits, yet this was not an area that the previous administration ever addressed, so finding researchers is proving difficult," said the secretary.
"Can't be helped," admitted Ranma. "Yoma can be fairly powerful, but the majority aren't exactly known for being clever. Maybe we should start a referral program."
The secretary jotted that down. "There was some success at the Jusenkyo research facility, however the energy drain is only slightly more than the energy use extracting it."
"Give them a congratulations and my expectations that they will enjoy better success in the future," said Ranma. Getting more energy without significantly antagonizing various forces locally - good investment. Getting revenge on Jusenkyo? Priceless.
