Ikari Ranma was was dreaming. And having a very strange conversation.
Both at the same time.
"Yo. Yo, you."
Ranma sighed, shaking his head. Wasn't being stuck in some version of the Evangelion universe in Ikari Shinji's place bad enough? Why the hell did he have to be bothered even in his ruddy dreams, anyhow? And he was dreaming, now. Sometimes he couldn't tell, but this time, he was sure of it.
After all, only in his dreams could -
Ranma blinked. And then, blinked again at the not very tall boy who stood before him, eyes narrowed.
"Ahhh..." Ranma groaned. "So, you're..."
"Ikari Shinji, yeah. Now Saotome Shinji." The boy growled at him, looking vaguely familiar all of a sudden. Now were he had seen that cold look before -
Oh.
Ranma groaned, again.
"So - you can talk to me? How?"
Shinji scowled again, the expression making him look more like Ikari Gendou then ever for some reason, even if Ranma was pretty sure he'd never seen Ikari Gendou make that particular expression in front of him.
"Well, according to that Mihoshi person, you have a little bit of my 'soul' in me, so my mother would recognize you as her son or something like that, and to keep the balance, she put a little of your 'soul' in me, too." Shinji sighed a bit then, suddenly looking much younger.
"Well actually, it isn't really like she took part of anybody's soul apart, it's more like we're each have a minor link to each other's minds and through that, to some kind of 'soul core' - Mihoshi was calling it a Starseed or something like that, I think..."
A Starseed, huh? The term sounded vaguely familiar, for some reason...
"So I have a bit of your soul, and you have a bit of mine, or we're connected anyway, so that's how we can talk when I'm dreaming." Ranma summarized.
"When we're both dreaming, probably..." Shinji muttered, rubbing his arms.
"And it's not like I can really tell if I'm really talking with you here or it's all just a more normal kind of dream, anyway."
Ranma groaned. Come on, he was finding the entire situation more then confusing enough as it was, anyhow.,,
"Hey, Ika - um, Shinji. Let's - let's pretend this is real for now, alright? Otherwise we'd never get anywhere..."
"Well, alright, then." Shinji muttered. "So I go first, right? - Say, Ranma- Ranma-san? Saotome-san? No, that's me, now..."
Ranma groaned, yet again. "Argh, just call me Ranma and I'll call you Shinji, alright?"
"...Well, alright, then." Shinji nodded. "So, question No.1 - did you read the manga called 'Ranma 1/2' already?"
Ranma googled, then. He'd seen a whole lot of mangas titled 'Shinji 1/2' at that used book store, and the obvious Akane and Kasumi lookalikes on one of the covers had been enough to spook him plenty, but -
Ranma 1/2?
