"Did you hear? Did you hear? The Prince had a rendezvous with that beautiful young Knight! Oh, how romantic!"
"The pretty, perky one or the shy, quiet girl?"
"The handsome blonde! The cook saw them leave together in a small boat, the Knight was rowing, flower petals carried on the wind at the backdrop of a beautiful moon!"
The pair of maids squealed, and Alenia restrained her urge to hit them for not including her in their speculations of pretty, young Queen's Knights, before that gave way to a sigh. Honestly, she thought, moving past the pair quietly, her destination the royal audience chamber. Where was the world coming to? This was precisely why Gizel deserved to be the next King, and sooner rather than later.
"I see you heard the news," Galleon said by way of greeting once she reached her destination.
She nodded absently. The expression on her face must have given her away, and she did not feel like asking to clarify that. Instead, Alenia took a look around. "I don't see Miakis or Lyon," she commented then, raising an eyebrow as she turned to look at him.
Galleon rolled his eyes. "They have a private audience with the Queen and King."

"I can't believe you fought over him in front of his very room," Ferid was saying, his voice low and exasperated. He shook his head, and gave Miakis a piercing stare. "A nightgown? What could you possibly be protecting him from in that?"
The King raised a hand to stop her excuses before she offered any, and turned to face Lyon fully. He sighed, and shook his head again. "And you," Ferid told her disappointedly. "You may be his bodyguard, Lyon, but I have always seen you as a daughter. Perhaps it is my fault, after all. I should have lectured you as well when I was talking to Lym." Lyon whimpered, and he raised his eyes, smiling at her warmly. "Don't get me wrong! If you want a chance to date him, then you should go for it! But the one thing you should not do is stalk him when he goes to bed, safe and protected in our very palace."
Ferid's eyes turned steely, and he looked at both women in turn. "You two are bodyguards of the Prince and Princess of Falena, and as such, in the public's eye. You should be discreet whenever possible, not make a scene in front of my son's quarters."
Lym stood quietly off to the side as her father lectured the pair, her mother's arm wrapped around her shoulders for comfort. The Princess had been upset to hear that her brother had run off on his own, and distraught over the persistent rumors of elopement with Kyle, but now she was thoughtful. A smile slowly split her face, and she proclaimed,
