Setsuna's Fault: Ami’s Mom Has Got it Going On [Episode 180416]

by Red Priest of the 17th Order

Opening the door to her apartment, Dr. Kumori Mizuno stepped in with a rather awkward step as she closed the door behind her. She was surprised she’d made it this far. She’d had to take a thirty-six hour shift at the hospital for the pediatrics’ ward and although she did take time to sleep and eat at the hospital, the blue-haired woman was absolutely exhausted.

Fortunately, there was method behind the madness she had to endure. Vacation. She was going to be gone from the hospital for two weeks due to the vacation time she’d been building up for awhile, and so she would have time for just her and her daughter. But first, she was going to spend some quality time with her bed...

Slipping off her shoes, the female doctor used her arms to work her jacket off from her as well. Placing the article of clothing up on the coat-rack near the entrance, Dr. Mizuno took a moment to yawn.

Stepping into her home, the woman didn’t bother calling for Ami. She was pretty sure her daughter would be at school right about now, and her daughter was always good about letting the pediatrician catch up on her much needed sleep. “Such a good daughter. And to think she wants to follow in her mother’s footsteps, too...”

However, the blue-haired woman’s steps came to a halt as she saw something standing in her living room. Bringing her right hand up to take off her glasses, she held them to the side as she used her left hand to try and rub her eyes. Placing her glasses back on, the woman narrowed her eyes. “That’s it, I’ve cracked.”

It was then that the stress-induced hallucination held up a sign.

[You look pretty fine to me.]

“...Thanks...” Kumori said hesitantly, unsure if talking to yourself was a sign of going over the deep-end or not.

The brown canine-like being flipped the sign over. [You’re welcome.]

The bluenette continued to stare at the brown canid with the large dopey yellow eyes. “So... since I’m obviously having a mental breakdown, may I at least get your name so I may tell the staff Psychiatrist what’s going on?”

It was then that the brown-furred anthropomorphic creature held out his other hand towards the woman, holding out a card. Hesitantly, Dr. Mizuno took the offered piece of credentials. “Wile E. Coyote. Super Genius?”

Wile E nodded his head rapidly, as he turned his sign around. [That is correct!]

Blinking her eyes, Kumori asked, “How did you get that sign changed with new...” stopped herself, the woman shook her head. “Never mind. I best not try make sense of it.”

Again, the coyote flipped his sign. [That would be advisable.]

Sighing, Kumori brought a hand to her head. “This vacation didn’t come soon enough?”

Raising an eyebrow, the coyote flipped his sign once more. [Vacation?]

“Yes. A two week-long vacation,” the blue-tressed doctor told the being she was positive was just a figment of her over-worked mind. Maybe Dr. Sakumo was right about her abusing the coffee too much while on the job the past two days...

The brown-furred bipedal coyote grinned widely. [Splendid!] He flipped the sign. [This will give us time to start your training!]

“Training?” The doctor asked curiously. “What training.”

Again, Wile E. flipped his sign. [To be a Sailor Senshi!]

Now the doctor had to blink her eyes. “Sailor Senshi?” She didn’t remember there being such a rank in anyone’s army... or navy.

[It’s all in the box]

“What box?” Kumori asked. When she saw the coyote point, her eyes followed. She saw in the middle of the living room was a large box, stamped with the logo of some company called, ‘Acme’.

Her curiosity getting the better of her, the woman walked over to where the package was. Opening it carefully, the doctor felt all around the large box filled with pastel-colored packing peanuts. Finally, when she felt something that wasn’t Styrofoam, the bluenette took hold and pulled it out.

“A pen?” The doctor asked as she looked over the small writing utensil. A shade of bright sky-blue and accented with gold. The small accessory at the top was interesting, but she couldn’t help but get the feeling she’d seen that blue logo of the female gender with a heart somewhere before...

[It’s not a pen!] Wile E. responded with his sign, a look of indignation on his face. He then flipped his sign over once more. [It’s a Henshin Wand!]

“Henshin Wand?” Kumori asked curiously. If this thing started buzzing, then she knew this weird hallucination must’ve been from a pretty dead sex-life. At this point, it would have made more sense than the coyote.

[Yes! The source of your power as the Princess of Mercury.]

A lot more sense...

Staring right at the coyote. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

[I do not jest.]
*flip*
[To active, just thrust the wand up into the air above your head.]
*flip*
[Then, you should cry out the phrase,]
*flip*
[Mercury Planet Power, Make-Up!]
*flip*
[And then your powers will take over.]

Kumori just STARED at the coyote. “I’m not even going to GUESS how you did that so fast.”

[It’s a gift.]

“Riiiiight...” Dr. Mizuno said, sounding pretty unconvinced. “Look,” she said as she stood up once more. “I’ll play along for a bit.” Holding the Henshin Wand above her head, the woman cried out, “Mercury Planet Power, Make-Up!”

As the bright blue light-show with snowy effects commenced, Wile E. held the sign up to his face, trying to offer the woman some modesty...

Although, when the light show ended, one wouldn’t think the woman was modest at all, considering the blue-colored sailor fuku with short skirt and boots. [Wow!]

“Wow is RIGHT!” Dr. Mizuno said as she looked her gloved hands over. She blushed a little as she saw her legs were pretty exposed. “Holy crap! Kiyohiko would’ve given his brush set to have seen me wear something like this!” The woman couldn’t help but comment as the uniform really did remind her of something her ex-husband would get a kick out of. She then turned her attention back to the one who’d given her this gift. “So, I’m the Sailor Senshi of Mercury?”

Nodding his head rapidly, Wile E. flipped his sign. [That’s right, Ami.]

Reading that caused the doctor to become startled. “Ami? I’m not Ami.”

Blinking his eyes, the coyote flipped the sign. [You’re not?]

“No!” Kumori shouted. “Ami is my daughter! I’m her mother!”

His ears and somehow his muzzle drooping down at that response, a look of complete worry came over Wile E.’s face as the woman could now see the red outline to his widened yellow eyes perfectly..

[Uh oh...]
