"On speaker," said Captain Kirk.
A young man with his hair in a pigtail appeared on the monitor. "This is the Saotome family yacht. That's the Enterprise aren't ya?"
"This is Enterprise, James T Kirk commanding," said Captain Kirk.
"Does the 'T' really stand for 'Tomcat'?" asked Ranma.
Doctor McCoy snorted. Spock raised an eyebrow. Uhura suppressed a giggle.
"It's 'Tiberius'," corrected Captain Kirk. "I take it you're Ranma Saotome?"
"Yeah, that's me," said Ranma, shrugging. "So we'll come alongside and send a shuttle over."
"We can use the transporter," said Captain Kirk. "It's faster."
"Nah, that whole take-things-apart and put-em-back-together again stuff don't sound right," said Ranma. "What if something gets screwed up in the process? What about the effect on chi?"
"It's perfectly safe," said Captain Kirk.
"That's what people usually say before things go 'boomie'," said Ranma. "Besides, that way my staff and stuff get over there without a whole lot of trouble."
"'Staff'?" asked Captain Kirk.
"Yeah, I'm s'possed to be some ambassador type working with your crew. Ambassadors got staffs," said Ranma. "I got the okay from Admiral Oe."
Kirk frowned. He didn't know an Admiral Oe. Another change in the timeline?
"Permission to come aboard?" asked a maid with sea-green hair.
"Of course," said Captain Kirk.
"Sensors read another ship entering the system," said Ensign Hibiki. "Speed - Warp 3.1."
"We weren't expecting another ship, were we?" asked the Captain.
Sulu checked. "It's-"
