Now, Minako had been what some might have thought to be a typical girl of her age. She was a romantic, and had daydreamed about finding a guy of her own to be her 'True Love', as she had wanted to have the sort of great romances that they would have in the old tales. When she'd met Makoto's friend Ranma, she'd found herself with a bit of desire for him to be that one, since he seemed to be different than other boys. He was good looking, physically adept, and was someone who she could have conversations with beyond the initial flirting attempt that she might make. Had she had the chance to hook up with him, she would have been more than pleased, as she could certainly see herself on his arm, sharing passionate kisses all the time.
Hearing that she had to get him to marry someone else got what might have been the expected reaction. "Oh, why would I have to wind up having to do something so annoying?!"
"It's actually really quite simple, if you think about it," Ami said apologetically, wanting to soothe her friend's lamentations. "Remember, we're supposed to be pure in body and spirit, until we partner up with our chosen guy. After being touched like that, purifying yourself makes for a calm spirit that can't be taken advantage of."
"And what about Ranma, huh?"
"Well.... He did manage to get inside the village, and he did manage to kiss you, so he has to be brought in."
"By marrying him off to someone else?" the kissed ninja girl whined.
"Since you have to do the purification rituals... yes. But since your friends are the ones that you can trust, marrying him off to one of them means that you can both be sure that he'll be watched over, and that he'll be taken care of how you would want him to be."
"But I can't marry him...."
"Sorry, but no, you can't."
"We just can't chase him down," Makoto muttered, not liking the sudden interest in her Ranma, and wondering why she felt so possessive of her friend all of a sudden.
"Of course not," Usagi answered, waving off the idea. "It's not like we are going to try and hurt him or something...."
"Oh, I know that...."
"Actually, we're supposed to avoid attacking him. And I'd like to avoid that myself...." Ami said with no little bit of distaste for the idea.
Haruka gave a small shrug of her shoulders. "It would be awkward once you became his wife if things went that way, wouldn't it?"
"Yes, it.... Ahh.... Actually... umm...."
"You mean that I have to marry him to Ami now?" Minako complained.
"Maybe," the bemused short haired blonde drawled with a teasing grin on her face.
"Or we could marry him off to Haruka," Rei suggested, her mouth pulled up into a smirk at the 'guardian'.
"Well... HEY!"
"Are you, or are you not a girl, and Minako's friend? Hmmm...."
"You would love that, wouldn't you?"
"Perhaps. Might be fun to see you being, and playing at, being his bride."
"I'm sure that I could be a great wife, if that was what I'd ever be willing to do. Though, you could be his wife, right?"
The raven haired girl blinked at the sudden focus on the idea of her being married to the boy with whom even arguing had made her feel... alive and blushed as she turned her nose up at the guardian. "I'd bet that I'd be a great choice, if it came to that."
"I guess everyone really likes Ranma," Usagi commented under her breath, wondering why her friends were so uptight at the moment. Sure, Ranma was a nice guy, and she'd always wanted to be a bride, but it wasn't like this was a sure thing or anything like that.
"Why did this have to happen to me?!" whimpered the sole girl there who could not marry Ranma, and who wished that she could be his bride, while:
