“… ‘m Misato… I have to start leaving the bar earlier…” It was a difficult habit to kick even after being employed to NERV for so long. Thankfully the monorail system was still operational and ready to transfer passengers between Tokyo 2 and 3. She didn’t know why there was some boy on the monorail, but she wasn’t in the clearest mind to really question the logic behind things at the moment.
The older woman went on a ramble explaining, “Of course it’s hard really. My favorite bar is all the way in Tokyo 2, I have to take the trip all the way over there to there and back again and somewhere else, by the time it’s over I get trouble thinking straight…” The rambling continued for a while until finally Misato concluded, “… And then I have a rough morning to get through. If you plan on getting old Shinji, you just keep this sort of thing in mind…” Shinji couldn’t think of a reply and if anything found himself slightly uneasy around the rambling woman. It was case number umpteen of why he didn’t want to try to get to know people.
A silence fell between the two of them as Misato finished speaking and she made herself comfortable on the seats waiting for the span of time it took to enter Tokyo 3. Misato was slipping further into the sleep induced by her usual alcoholic consumption but managed to ask the boy with a slight slur, “So are you… Headed to Tokyo 3 as well Shinji?”
Shinji shook his head, “… I don’t really have anywhere to go.”
Misato mused to herself on the idea, “Oh… loner huh? Nice way to think about… something…” Her train of thought continued to slip towards the comfort of sleep. She slapped herself lightly once she got that close and reminded herself that she had to stay awake for the transfer into Tokyo 3. She didn’t want to stay here on the monorail all night… again.
Seeing Misato about to fall asleep, Shinji decided that she wasn’t planning to harm him or ask him anything else. He decided now was the time to wait for the next stop. In a few short hours, the two of them would enter Tokyo 3 and something of interest might just happen then…
