Cardmaster Ranma: Thug Trouble [Episode 180840]

by Kender

Genma heard the announcement, but didn't pay much heed to it. More than likely, it was just some silly game that the principal was trying to play with him, but he wasn't about to fall for it. Sure, free food was a tempting offer, but it wasn't like it was really enough to get sedentary high school students to do anything other than be a mob. Even with what he'd already seen, he couldn't believe that it was anything more than an aberration. After all, what high school would really have a lot of real fighters?

Okay, so there had been that girl with the long hair and the really short skirt who'd he bumped into earlier. But it had actually been her fault. If only she'd not been grumbling about her grandfather, and paid attention to where she was walking, then maybe there wouldn't have been an accident. Instead, she had simply exploded with anger when his hand had brushed against her sizable chest. That hadn't been his fault though, as it was so big and was a bit of trouble to get around. Fortunately, he'd had plenty of experience in dealing with angry women, like this 'Mao Lan' girl, even if she did have some impressive moves.

He'd had more important things to deal with though, and he'd immediately left to handle them. It hadn't been 'running away', as he had been merely avoiding the hit that she'd been sending his way, and saving his time for finding his son. With the appearance of people like that one girl who'd thought it 'great' to find someone ready for a fight walking around, to the boy who'd given him that dark stare, he'd had to get around some strange children.

Still, he was certain that he'd be able to wrap this up pretty quickly. All he'd have to do would be to open the door, grab his son, and leave the grounds. Of course, the boy would likely understand his place, and come on his own, which would suit the Saotome patriarch perfectly fine. In fact, he was so sure that he was perfectly able to find the room in question, that he didn't hesitate to open it.

But instead of finding a dark haired boy with a pigtail, he found a short blond brat leaning back in his chair. "What's this now?"

"Well, look at this, buddy," the blond boy drawled in a near sneer as he elbowed the big guy next to him. "Hey, Bob. Look at what seems to have dropped into our laps."

"Really?" the dark skinned boy grunted. "Doesn't look like it'll be worth the effort...."

"Yeah, but who cares? We beat this guy, and we get free food for a year!"

"That'd be good. And it'd probably help out Chiaki...."

"Plus, it'll be nice to kick someone's ass, right, Bob?"

"It'll go a long way towards our reps," the really tall boy responded.

"Just who are you two boys talking about?" Genma asked them, letting his confusion show clearly on his face.

"You, you old jackass," the blond commented as he loudly cracked his knuckles. "Get ready to get bounced from here to the front gate."

"Come on now. I don't think that two simple high school students really should get into such a silly game...."

"It ain't your choice, pops. Besides, who the hell said that we were 'simple'?"

"If you're not, then what are you?" the man in the gi asked.

"Done with talking," Bob murmured, and slipped to the floor so that he could bring his legs up in a twirling kick.

A surprised Genma wound up catching a heel in the gut that sent him flying across the hall, and out to hit right between the windows there.

"Nagi."

"Don't need to tell me," the spiky haired boy answered, grinning wildly as he swung to hit the middle aged man. However, his hit missed when his target dodged in a panic, but he still managed to land a quick hit to a knee that forced the man to the floor.

"Don't you know the rules of fighting?" Genma asked.

Nagi's grin flashed again. "I'm a thug, and I like being one. And no one said that we had to be nice in beating you."

That allowed Genma to realize that this would not be a simple martial arts fight, since these guys were low and mean, and didn't have any problem admitting it. Yet, he'd had some experience in cheap fighting moves himself, what with all the troubles that he'd been through over the years. As it stood, he was pretty sure that he'd be able to take on these to with little trouble.

The sight of students lining up in the hall, some with instruments of violence, some improvised, made it clear that this was not going to be a simple day for him.

Sighing heavily to himself, he allowed himself to feel a moment of self pity, while:
