"As an angel of death, I could only transport your soul, and when you manifested within the android body - as with the others - there was a physical restructuring due to the local reality," said Rei #4.
"So why do I have BATWINGS and a TAIL?" asked Asuka, a bit peeved still.
"If you prefer," smoothly interjected Rei #5, "we can test the Catgirl Cannon on you. There's a good chance you'll be completely biological after that."
"There is?" asked Asuka. "What's the catch?"
"You'd be a busty young girl with catears and a cat tail," answered Misato.
"WHY do we have to do this?" asked Asuka.
"Don't whine," said Rei #2.
"I'M NOT WHINING!" yelled Asuka.
"Don't yell either," said Rei #16.
"I'm here because being Dark General Misato is a step up from being Dead Major Misato," said Misato. "Or just Major Dead Misato."
"Yeah, but Wondergirl brought us across, not the Evil Overlord, we could just go somewhere..." Asuka's voice trailed off.
"I dunno, I kind of like it here," said Hyuga as he started fiddling with the speakers. "It beats being goo."
"There is that," admitted Asuka. "Though I don't remember much after being eaten. Hel-LO. Who's THAT?"
The muscular young man set a box down and regarded her. "Asuka?"
"SHINJI?!" Asuka's jaw dropped. "When, how, what?"
"I got to look like a guy named Doc Samson," said Shinji, shrugging. "I decided if I was going to be a full conversion cyborg - I might as well look good doing it."
"Not bad," said Misato, sounding approving.
"Yeah, well my real body was kind of a wreck," said Shinji. "I had a few accidents after everyone got turned to LCL. So when Rei offered..."
"Besides, he looks very... nice this way," said Rei #3.
Asuka stopped gawking at Shinji in order to stare at Rei BLUSHING?! And eyeing Shinji's butt?! WHAT?!
"Yes, very nice indeed," said Rei #9, patting his rear in passing.
"Hey now," said Shinji, protesting slightly.
Asuka would have expected Shinji to jump and squawk and carry on. "Why are you ACTING so different?"
"I carried out a directive in which everyone on Earth basically assumed a vegetative state," said Rei #4, her eyes turning cold again. "The experience was... not pleasant."
"I was caring for a girl in a coma, living out of ruins, eating food that was going bad, for FIVE YEARS," said Shinji. "The only person around to talk to me was Pen-Pen. Some circumstances force you to grow up."
"Huh, the Love Freak's talking to that imitation again?" asked Laharl, jabbing a thumb towards the videophone and Flonne.
"Sort of, she's talking to some of his vassals," said Etna, flipping a page in her manga. She idly blew a bubble and then let it pop.
"He's got vassals already?" asked Laharl. Then he nodded. "Well, he IS an imitation ME. I guess some of my greatness was copied."
"Yeah, he's got a whole bunch of angels working under him, and they're turning to Flonne for advice," said Etna, seemingly bored as she turned another page.
"That can't be good," said Laharl. "He's got a bunch of Flonne?"
"No, these are Angels Of Death," said Etna, silently counting.
"Oh, well that's..." Laharl's voice trailed off. "WHAT?! HOW DID HE GET ANGELS OF DEATH WHILE I GET THAT LOVE FREAK?!"
Etna smiled and turned another page in her manga. The Prince could be SO predictable.
Genma looked up at the sheer walls rising up out of the Bayankala mountains and tapped the dark rock-metal of the fortress. "Okayyyy. Where's the front door?"
The Guide sighed and turned to a side trail. "Guide not know. Guide going home. This very strange day. Guide had enough."
"Hey, D00D, you know where to find some guy named Ranma?" asked a penguin with stitches and peglegs.
The Guide stared for a time. Genma stared. Several birds nearby stared.
"What?" asked the penguin-thing.
"That it, that one that break camel back, Guide go home now. Strangeness threshold exceeded. Bye bye." With that the Guide trudged along a worn side-path, muttering something in Chinese as he went along.
Asuka blinked. "You're selling Wondergirl on E-BAY?!"
"Yes," said Ritsuko Akagi. "Rei #7 was able to get Ranma to install the three MAGI on level 9. They're handling the details."
Asuka blinked again. "ARE YOU INSANE?!"
"Why?" asked Ritsuko. "They're just puppets. Dolls created in the semblence of man."
Asuka stared at Ritsuko.
"This also allows us to place units out in the general public where they can act as spies," said Ritsuko.
"Does Ranma know you're doing this?" asked Asuka.
"Of course not," said Ritsuko. "He'd object to it. Don't worry, we're using the Catgirl Cannon to make sure that only purely biological units are sold."
"That wasn't the problem I had with this situation," wryly commented Asuka.
Ranma glanced at the timer. He'd added the supercomputer thingies, sound system, furnished rooms, caused the tower to extrude weapons blisters, and had some troops around.
He still needed a few things though and darn little time to do it.
"Join us next week, on Disgaea-ed," said Etna, giving a voiceover. The only person listening was Laharl, but what the hey. "When we hear-"
