Usagi searched the scorched room, looking for the mirror, the one item she needed to ensure her plans. It was bad enough that she was being forced to use alternate means to acquire her new mate, but to undergo such troubles...
The perverse gnome had been somewhat interesting; showing her a supposed mortal that had been able to take on her strength. That was both a blessing and a curse. It was a blessing in that it showed she might find others of use out there aside from her soon-to-be consort, and a curse because the letch had refused to die after the first blow, even landing a few of his own.
Her head still hurt from being thrown through the windowsill.
And he surprised her once again, his body was still around.
“S-s-sweeto?”
WHAM!
She smirked as he was finally still. It was doubtful he was dead, but he would be out of her hair for a while.
Which meant she could do something she had always wanted to do: she picked his pockets. “Panties ... bras ... Shriner hat ... ah, here we go,” she said, smiling as she found a money clip, filled with yen.
Many would ask why someone like Happosai had so much money on him. Many would be forgetting that gambling parlors never gave credit, and strippers performed in places that required a cover charge—sparkly silkies were the best.
“Not bad,” she smirked. “There’s enough here to get a very nice room, or at least something to finish things in private.”
“What things?”
“EEP!” cried Usagi, jumping up and clinging to the ceiling. “Don’t do that! I have one friend that loves to do that and it scares the shit out of me.”
“Sorry,” said Ranma, “I was just wondering if any of my stuff survived. I’d like to have something more to wear than a pair of boxers.”
“Oh,” she said. “Sorry.”
“What things?” he asked again.
“Oh, well it involves my mirror,” she said, hoping to keep him from finding out what her plans were for him.
“That thing?” Ranma said; pointing at the mirror in question ... that was currently imbedded in the wall. “Must be pretty tough to take that sort of punishment.”
“Indeed,” said Usagi in awe. To have survived that, was either a blessing on her plans, or dumb luck.
Hell, she had made a career out of being a Senshi based on dumb luck, so why not now.
She pulled it from the wall; not noticing how Ranma cringed as more damage was made. Other than appearing a little dirty, it looked to be in perfect shape. If I had lost this, my plans would have been destroyed. I’ll need to take better care of it.
“You better get your stuff,” said Usagi. “I was on my way to a hotel when this,” she paused, kicking Happosai’s unconscious form, “stopped me.”
“Yeah, he does that from time to time,” muttered Ranma, wondering why the Old Letch was even still in town, and not chasing him through the woods like everyone else. Maybe I can play this off as his fault, and get the others to blame him for once. Say he blew up my room for me not being there.
I’m just glad I still had my pack ready. It’s kinda chilly out there.
“Well, shall we go?” asked Usagi, taking his arm.
Ranma nodded, leaving Happosai on the ground, as they left the Dojo.
As such, neither noticed that Happosai was changing, the last thing he had seen being that of the mirror, before Usagi’s attack exploded.
As they made their way to a hotel, Usagi was in deep thought. She knew that she had only a small window to make headway in her plans. She had no less than three Senshi who might be able to interfere. Michiru and her mirror might be used to spy on her, Rei and her fire could foresee her plans, and Setsuna and her Gates could undo anything she did.
On further thought, she decided it probably wasn’t the wisest thing to have gone after a mate before the Senshi. But what she had learned about him by going through his mind, had shown what potential he had. And that potential would be useful to her goals.
Besides, having some hunky muscle to back her up would be a good thing.
In fact, it was this very indecision that was keeping her under the radar of the respective Senshi. Until she defined her course, the timeline would be unchanged enough that Setsuna would not be alerted. This was further helped along by the now altered Ginzuishou, which was hiding her from the view of the others. Until she acted on them, they would remain in the dark.
Now, she just had to get him to sleep, so she could finish her work.
Ranma walked along, trying not to show any signs of being ill-at-ease with the blond holding onto his arm. His senses still said she was a danger, much in the same way it categorized all girls, thanks to the Fiancée Brigade.
But she wasn’t glomping onto him, hitting him, or demanding anything from him, other than he come with her and have a nice warm place to sleep for that night.
Okay, the kiss was fitting with his former profile, but it hadn’t been a kiss he had experienced before. It felt ... pure ... for some reason, not like the demanding kisses he had received before.
Then there was the strong feeling that he knew her from somewhere. It was also something that set off alarms inside of him, as that was usually followed by him finding out that she was engaged to him, most likely by something stupid his old man had done.
But it felt so different with her, as if she was very important to him.
Maybe a good night’s sleep is all I need to sort this out. After all, aside from that fight, it ain’t like anything else has happened.
But why do I feel so full though?
