But then, he was also a little boy who had just found out that something 'cool' might be happening right near him.
So, he didn't put much concern into wondering just what was going on. Sure, he wondered what was going on, but as far as he was concerned, he could react if something bad came out after it did so. It wasn't that he was ignoring the possibility, but that he was actually not really recognizing any danger. Rather, he simply couldn't help looking, and as he watched, he saw something slip through the place he and his father had shown up at.
What that spot was, he didn't know, other than that it had come around when his father had used that scroll. There was that really strange trip though things that he didn't, and had a feeling that he didn't want to, understand, but that wasn't a help at the moment. It was already clear that it was some sort of transport stop, as it had zapped him and his dad to this place from the temple. However, he didn't know how it worked.
What he did know was that it was clearly still open, since he was seeing it let through:
