Some things remained the same, but had reversed as far as which gender was concerned. Rape of a woman by a man was unheard of. The other way around was rare but it was possible. For the most part society and culture reduced the abuse level. For the most part.
Ranma knew something was off, but not what. He went back to the day of being introduced to the Tendo family again to see what it was.
No Jusenkyo curse. After being engaged to Soun Tendo in that one instance, he was not anxious to encounter that problem again.
Seeing girls gathered around, reading magazines titled things like 'BoyToy' was his first signal as to what had changed.
Girls followed him and his father, giggling strangely. What was up with that?
Porno shops were typically run by Yakuza, or supplied by them, and what was up with all the girls going into such places. Especially teenage girls?
"We're almost there, Ranma," said Genma with a deep sigh. "It's a pain in the watoosie, but this is where we've got to be. Duty and all that."
Ranma nodded, a little puzzled at his father's complete lack of enthusiasm.
Genma shook his head. Well, they could always leave for frequent training trips. Had to keep those skills in the Art up, after all.
"Well, at least we'll be able to get out of the rain," offered Ranma.
"Yes, that's true," said Genma, a little brighter.
"So, what's this family meeting about?" asked Nabiki, flopping down onto the cushion.
"Yes, Father," said Kasumi. "I was just about to fix dinner."
"Well, I hate to bring this up, but it's something that's been weighing on me for quite some time," began Soun.
"Oh, you've finally decided to take advantage of Mrs Yamanagi's offer for that discount on the fish?" asked Kasumi.
"About time," said Akane. "Honestly, that woman has been trying to get inside your boxers for YEARS."
"No no no," insisted Soun. "That's not it."
"What is it, then?" asked Nabiki, wanting to get back to her yaoi manga.
"An old friend and training partner of mine is coming by," said Soun.
"Ah, and I'll need to get more of those stick-lights," said Kasumi. Just stick them anywhere, then you could hit the button and have light practically anywhere. Those had been a godsend considering her father's gibbering terror whenever the lights went out.
"No, Genma and I were separated during that incident," said Soun. "He ended up with cat-demons. Still has a few scars, I think. That isn't the point though. He's bringing his son with him."
Dead silence.
"Is he cute?" asked Akane.
"Is he hung?" asked Nabiki.
"Is he available?" asked Kasumi.
"I don't know, I've never met him," said Soun. "As for available - I'd imagine so, since one of you is to be engaged to him. Honor arrangement between families, that sort of thing. If it doesn't work out - that's the way it goes. He's been on a martial arts training journey for the past ten years."
"Cool," said Akane.
"Possibly a well toned stud then," said a grinning Nabiki.
"Is he older?" asked Kasumi. "I've read that older men often require more romancing."
"Don't be in a hurry," said Soun, "this is an important decision and not one you should rush into."
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
