"Here we go, the woods bordering the temple, this is as far as we can go with Dita along," said Genma, slinging his pack off his shoulders.
"Why's that?" asked Dita.
"Because it's men only from those markers on," said Genma, pointing out some streamers a dozen meters away.
"Good campsite," commented Ranma. Cleared area. Water nearby in the form of some creek. Old firepit that hadn't been used in a long while. Area he could put his tent and get some additional rain coverage from the boughs hanging overhead. Old pine forest, so there was just clearing all the needles out of the area.
"I'll start getting dinner ready," chirped Dita, knowing what her role in this was.
"Great," said Ranma, more enthusiastic. She was good at that stuff, which had been the original reason for getting her after all. Now he was kind of used to her company.
"I wonder how Meia is doing?" asked Dita.
"Who's Meia?" asked Ranma, getting to unpacking his tent.
"Meia is..." Dita's voice trailed off. "I don't remember. Someone important I knew."
Ranma grunted. "Probably a friend ya had when ya were going through orientation or something."
"Maybe," said Dita. She didn't think that sounded right, but what else could it be? "So what's this temple about?"
"It's a sacred temple to Bishomon," said Genma, throwing his own tent together. "They have a special technique they train in here - the infamous VanGuard technique!"
"Oh, that figures," said Dita, she knew how important that sort of thing was to Master Ranma. "So why no girls?"
"Part of their monastic vows as I understand it," said Genma, shrugging.
Dita pouted a little as that sounded awfully hard. Who'd do their laundry and cooking? She knew what happened when Genma tried doing it. Any delicate fabrics came out shredded.
