Switching Places/Eva!-Switcheroo!: 'Evangelion A La Ranma' (3) [Episode 183008]

"...Cometh the Angel." Shinji smiled at him, wanly.

" - That's what those things are called, right?"

Ranma nodded, numbly.

Shinji sighed. "Well, I'm not quite sure why they translated 'Shito' as 'Angel' in the english versions to begin with, but anyhow, the scene pans out, and takes a good long time showing the thing in all it's scary glory and a pretty nice music score - and you can see the pretty lady in the blue car too, and it turns out she's almost right under it, and you can see her eyes...but then she grabs a gun out of her coat and her satchel too, and rolls out of the car just as another car almost careens right into it, and starts to run. You - I mean, 'Ikari Ranma' - on the other hand, is just - watching all this."

Shinji sighed yet again, and then paused. "...Eh?"

"...Uh, what?" Ranma mumbled.

"When did I turn back into a boy? I didn't conjure any water or anything after I went 'Ranko', I didn't think..."

It was Ranma's turn to blink, then. "You just sort of blurred and turned back a couple of minutes ago, I think. ...Maybe it's just because you forgot you were supposed to be a girl for now, or something like that? I mean, where we are is inside some kind of shared dream anyhow, so..."

"...Ahhh." Shinji mumbled. "Well, since it's some kind of dream to begin with, and I'm not all that used to shifting genders back and forth...that makes sense, I suppose. Well, OK, back to the Eva series with you - I mean 'Ikari Ranma' - then."

Shinji sipped some tea, sighing yet again. "'Ikari Ranma' is watching all this, standing tall and loose, though the viewers can't see his eyes - and the pretty lady sights him and starts to run towards him. His stance shifts a little, but he doesn't look at her, he's still looking at the Angel. And then there's a explosion, and the pretty lady jumps in his direction just as he moves in hers, and when the dust's settled, you can see that she'd tried to shield him with her body while he's still on a half-croach and halfway holding her. She's a bit winded, it seems, but she snapes out his name - 'Ikari Ranma', that is - and he says yeah, that's him. And then, they start running together. At first she leads and he follows, and she does seem to know where she's going, but it soon becomes clear that she's a bit more hurt then she's trying to pretend to be, so after another big bang - not that they were being attacked directly, but there were lots of things going bang in that scene - he just sort of halfway picks her up and scoots her along, satchel, gun and all. And then they're both running towards the train, which is just pulling out, and 'Ikari Ranma' just picks the pretty lady up all the way - she's half unconscious by this time, by the way - and runs parallel to the tracks, eventually managing to just jump into the moving train. ...Which is not something I would be able to do in a hundred years, by the way, I don't think..."

Ranma hummed, thinking about that. "...What about your version of 'Ranko', though?"

Shinji blinked. "...Huh. She...might be able to do that, now that I think about it... I'm not all that used to 'her', either, am I?"

"Well, it's only been..." What, two days? Three? Ranma groaned.

"Ummmmmm." Shinji groaned, too.

"Well, OK, then - the pretty lady - 'Misato-san', right? - comes to on the train, and asks 'Ikari Ranma' to take her to the train driver - they have to make a detour, it seems. Ranma and the pretty lady get off at someplace that isn't really a station, and the train goes on while Misato-san fiddles with some kind of secret entrance. Then they go off on some kind of elevater, and - "
