When his son came out of it, he frowned though. This wasn't quite what he had intended. The six year old boy had a muscle definition that was beyond his years, and the promise of living up to his name. Both of which were perfectly fine.
That his eyes had shifted to gold, had two dog ears poking up out of the top of his head - less desirable.
An alarm going off interrupted Genma's experimentation. Best to grab the boy and flee now.
Professor Natsume stared at the frozen scene on the security playback. The boy had not only survived, but apparently the process had worked as intended.
Well, at least he'd gotten some data out of it. Now if he could just contact that boy and his father and run some tests.
If this was the sort of thing the Yakuza were working with, he might need it.
The Present, minus two years:
Fourteen year old Ranma finished running around the track, glancing back at where the other members of his class were gasping for breath.
"Saotome! Why did you stop?" asked the Coach.
"Ya wanted fifty laps, I did 'em," stated Ranma. "Can't help it if the rest of the class is just on the second one."
The Coach grunted, acknowledging the performance difference between the Saotome kid and the rest of the class as much as he would allow himself to. "Well, get busy! Sword training!"
"Yeah, yeah, fine," said Ranma, in a complaining tone. Honestly, he didn't mind the sword training. He just liked to gripe about that sort of thing. 'Please don't throw me in that briar patch' kind of thing.
As for the girls from the neighboring school pressed up against the fence watching, he ignored them. Unless they brought lunch. AND if they avoided tugging on his ears.
He had hit puberty with several results. While some of those results were contained within his gym clothes, other results were obvious even at a distance. One such being the fact that he had a lean tight musculature that was atypical of a teenager. Or his height, which showed he was taller than many of the teachers. Or the way he ran - which was fast and with an endurance that was superhuman.
